The only reason house prices would come down is because people could no longer afford them (I'm not justifying the credit used to buy them)
The new lower price equilibrium would signify a decrease in the amount of houses owned, as the price lowering was caused by a decrease of demand. More people would be without houses and cars; they would not be more affordable than they are now.


The second error is the presumption that low interest rates are somehow bad for modern banks. They're not. Given the current mechanisms of how things work, negative interest rates are a blessing to those in charge. The reason for this is, in short, that the banks loan YOUR assets, not their own, and that they can only get a markup from your stuff by lending it out. They don't care about the rate. In the short term, but once markets adjust, prices would drop a lot. Lending is a scam on the entire country. When people start taking loans for money they don't have to pay for basic services, prices rise, and soon everyone has to borrow to compete in those markets.
It's astonishing to me that economists were able to lie that expanding the money supply this way is somehow any different than printing more. There's a reason that housing and school inflated at such a higher rate than the rest of the economy.
