Hello people, I am a young man from Chile who has been buying some silver coins. Here it is difficult to find these types of coins but I found this page that sells them. I wanted to ask for your opinion on the price of these coins and if it would be convenient to buy them, and if the price is not a scam.
I leave here a reference image, the American Silver Eagle is at 18,800 Chilean pesos, which would be equivalent to 26.02 dollars (to this I should also add the shipping costs that are approximately 6.92 dollars). Should I buy it ???

26$ is a little bit costly, but they have to travel a lot to get to you. And south american shipping costs are fucked. Can't you get mexican libertads?

If you buy 20, what price per unit do you get? Buying just 1 is usually pointless, buy a whole roll or go to a local coin shop.

If you actually want to be INVESTING in Silver, buy bars. Coins carry a huge upcharge on them.

$26/oz is ridiculous.

With bars you will get as close to you can to spot price as possible without buying them exactly spot price. My last purchase was only $1 over spot price per oz for a 10 oz bar and I'm already at a technical profit with what I bought it at.

>>15493105
Respectfully you do not need to own any silver that has a premium, just try and find silver as closest to spot as possible, id look into generic silver. Good sites are SD bullion, monument metals, Apmex, provident and jmbullion. Check local Craigslist too there might be some sellers there but I doubt it. Is there no coin dealer in your area?

If that's the best price you can get then go for it. I would never pay that price in US. Most I would go is $2 over spot. Maybe find some generic silver.

Paying close to $33USD for 1oz seems too much to me. Do you have craigslist or equivalent in your country? With premiums that big I would try and buy local private market. Even hunting for Stirling silverware and buying by weight seems like a better idea.

Allow me to introduce to you our Lord & Savior Mike Maloney.
We truly do not deserve him. You can download his book on buying gold and silver for FREE on his website.
Anyways, he does ship to Chile. I am not sure on costs but this is by the far best website for you to look into.

Government issued coins are harder and illegal to
counterfeit. Bars are not. Go on alibaba and search for fake silver bars you'll find tons.

If you go to a reputable dealer in silver and buy their bars, you won't get some fake stuff. I sure hope you aren't buying silver 2nd hand on the facebook marketplace.

There was another thread about how if you go to alibaba you can also find silver plated eagles being sold for whole sale for scammers to run on ebay and elsewhere.

Like I said, you're paying for 2/3rds the silver that you could be getting.

Government coins maintain the premium value when you sell them. You're not losing anything.

>paying a premium in the first place

you're adding another level of charge and value that isn't hard objective and up to a dealer to fuck around with.

When it's just 10 oz of silver, it's 10 oz of silver. He isn't going to go
>aw shit dude the condition is a bit scratchy and smoothed at the edges. These years aren't really that in demand either... Plus there's some weird unorthodox design ones that I don't see flying off my shelf...

You can search for fake Silver Eagle videos, too.

It's weird how stupid you are. Do you think he bought both directly from a reputable dealer? He probably bought 1 from a dealer, like you're supposed to, and then purposely got this one second hand.

If you buy from a dealer, you won't end up with junk.

This is funny low level IQ.

The last time I talked to you, I posted just numbers to prove that investing in bars is wiser and cheaper than buying coins.

All you ever reply with are google image search results of idiots who buy from non-dealers. Where do you think people buy fake silver?

You're arguing for paying a premium to big dealers in order to have less risk of getting a fake bar.
I can buy 2nd hand government coins safely since I'm familiar with ASEs. I just bring a scale, magnet and a smartphone with a frequency checking app.

Read the file name left to right to make sense of it. There's obviously more I keep track of but I'm not going to let everyone here know what sells well locally to prove a point.
