Another anon was talking about dividend-focused ETFs, particulatly those available commission-free on Charles Schwab. I'm looking at one that looks promising right now under the ticker DON (WisdomTree US Mid Cap Divdidend Fund). This ETF has one major point in its favor, namely that it's ticker symbol is a title of nobility, putting it--in my mind--in a class with ETFs like NOBL, REGL and KNG. Wisdom tree also has large-cap and small-cap counterparts (DGRW and DES respectively), but both have apparently uninspired ticker symbols. Another interesting fact is that LCI Industries (LCII) is among its top-ten holdings, which I thought amusing. I'll do some more research when I'm not on a phone, but I think this might be the one.

Nice. Not to knock SPLV, but something with "low-volitility" explicit in the name sounds like a sissy's ETF. That's not to say it's a bad investment, only that it might merit more rigorous scrutiny than other funds...

In my prior post, it looks like I may have conflated two different classes of WisdomTree's ETF. It looks like the large-cap countetpart to DON and DES would be DLN. DGRW goes with DGRS. I'll have to sort that out when I'm back at a real computer.

I really couldn’t say. There’s good reason to think that the market will be reaching new highs within the next year, but September is also a very shitty month, historically. Part of what I like about this etf is that it’s a schwab nofee fund, so if I buy it on the way up and set a tight stoploss, there isn’t much to worry about.

That, and if I end up bagholding on this one, I couldn’t be too upset since it’s damn high quality.

Its really not that great. I'm sure their broker makes a bunch of money by taking advantage of the "1 trading window per day" do you buy overpriced stuff, nothing is "free." It's not just getting lucky. You also have to risk manage so you don't bleed all over the floor trying to get that moon shot. Then holding gains after the moon shot. If you got one moon shot you are not going to quit. You need that feel again. So you continue to trade like a gambler because you didn't learn the valuable lesson.

That's why it's hard.

I'm assuming you meant to reply to me, not hot dog man. IMO the individual companies probably matter less since even the largest holdings are only 1.x% of the fund. That's compared with an ETF like SCHD where the top ten is over 44% of the fund, and Home Depot alone is over 5%. One thing I noticed about SPLV is that it's very heavily weighted toward its top-three sectors: utilities, financials, real estate (in that order). I think that would be a more important consideration in evaluating SPLV than its individual stocks.

>This makes the Chinks look weak IMHO.
Analysts think that they are probably trying to use a carrot and stick approach, try to answer the easier part of protestors demand, while leaving out others, like investigate police abuse of power and violence, release arrested people, and democratic election, so that they can use even more powerful means to suppress remaining protestors who still demand these different aspects of issues to be addressed.

There is definitely a feeling of inevitability
Beijing will eventually get what they want, or they'll just build up Shenzhen (I think it was Shenzhen) and let HK decline in importance until no one cares. Eventually, if Beijing controls situations in a way that the HK economy keeps declining and the mainland economy keeps growing, the majority of HK citizens will ask Beijing to take over.

That's Beijing's logic. Doesn't mean it will work.

I think it is well within Beijing's power to cause ab economic stagnation in HK
They don't even have to do anything, if they just spend money in other places HK economy will fall apart
Much better than taking direct action against HK

If they finesse it right they could have the HK citizens begging for help. The HK financial system is super leveraged, things can fall apart very quickly. I don't know if Beijing is that shrewd, that the extradition bill was a false provocation from the start to feed into their main plan. But if that was their plan all along, damn.

>If this jumps 1000% and that other potential 10 bagger does too I'm done with working mid 20s
I was up xx% and wanted more. In the end I've always ended up holding the bags because either the hype died down or the results were good but did not meet market's expectation. Especially bagholder stocks are prone to dumping after pumping because so many bagholders are finally breaking even and just want to get out. I really hope that Snss goes up further but I will not gamble all in on the results. I will sell my base investment and gamble on the results with my run up gains.

Imagine a life where you have never been great at anything, never felt the urge to be great at anything, never felt that magnetic admiration to a stock that was great at something, wanted to imitate and ultimately conquer it. Just nothing. Literally all you do in life is shitpost. Occupy space. short stocks. You're a bear.

You're bored, tweeting about your fucking stock going bankrupt and not even feeling any kind of happiness from it, just soothing your constant need to be bitter and cunty and petty toward other traders. Every single thing you've done in the past year was mundane, shallow, and boring. You spent the last six hours reading kinda-interesting Forbes stories about people who made interesting IPOs for the market or some stupid bullshit that you think is interesting and you may say is interesting but you're not really sure if it's really interesting. You're just fucking sitting there, gestating, fermenting, with a moist hole between your ears that guarantees you'll at least never have to think and move around and work to support a stock.

And then you see bulls, over in some corner, having fun. You've never seen this before. What are they even doing? Instead of their consciousnesses merely sitting in their thick skull and revolving around itself, they are imbuing their conscious energy and intentionality into external stocks, ETFs, indexes, companies. All the bitterness and cuntiness you feel nonstop seems to be absent, as they congratulate each other for making gains, and happily learn from someone who lost money. These creatures are truly content to be alive. They have found purpose in a purposeless universe.

And your gaze turns back on itself, on your self, and you realise you've never had that. You can never have it. You're just a stupid bear.

So you get up, you walk over there, and you fucking short everything. Just short the whole fucking market. The five points of gains you get will be worth destroying the economy. Because you're a bear.

Look at it soon after making the deal. Contract value, $46. Huh? Arent I supoose to get $50 in premium for the contract upfront? Most if not the rest of my other ones dont have this issue whether low or high value nor whether the price has changed up or down.

It will not be long before the spread of negative interest rates reaches the U.S., former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said.

“You’re seeing it pretty much throughout the world. It’s only a matter of time before it’s more in the United States,” Greenspan told CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street ” on Wednesday, adding investors should watch the 30-year Treasury yield.

The 30-year U.S. rate traded at 1.978%. It reached an all-time low last week.

There are currently more than $16 trillion in negative yielding debt instruments around the world as central banks try to ease monetary conditions to sustain the global economy. The 10-year sovereign bonds in Belgium, Germany, France and Japan — among others — are trading with a negative rate.

U.S. Treasury yields are still well within positive territory, but the Fed has already cut rates once and is expected to ease later this month. Market expectations for a rate cut in September are at 92.7%, according to the CME Group’s FedWatch tool.

It's only like 1/3 of their revenue but it's the only category that has been growing and driving their increase in stock price aside from the pipe dream of streaming. A quick Google search says in 2018 it accounted for 4.5 billion in operating profit, a 100% increase over the past 5 years while their media networks accounted for 6.6 billion which was a 3% decline in that same period and probably even worse in 2019.

The media business is shit today. Nobody watches TV or goes to the movies and when they have to start subscribing to 20 different services to watch what they used to be able to get on Netflix for $10 they will drop that too.

Disney is a bad investment if their theme parks and Cruise lines start to slump.

Lci guy reminds of this shill on yahoo finance who likely bought stocks at $2.00 a suare. The stock has went down since and that was 2 years ago. It's now 0.11ish and may be delisted later this year. Guy shills it nonetheless. If he doubled down everytime the price went down 25% the bags must be really heavy.

AAAAAND THE FUCKING NO NO-DEAL-BREXIT VOTE!

Why am I such an asshole? It was so obvious... and now there’s nothing obvious. But sooner or later, trump’s going to pump his favorite stock, tvix.

that is what is known as a paid shill.. they never actually own the stock.. they are simply trying to spread good news to get people to buy the stock which is heavily diluted and really has no chance of climbing.. he's just paid to help bring in liquidity.. and yes.. those people do exist.....

LCI isn't dilutive.. thats whats so great about it.. no dilution!! shares are locked..... I bought right before the drop and kept buying all the waydown.. i'm very VERY green now..

can‘t help it furanon i get bored waiting for new bread and it‘s just such easy bait. On the interest of staying on topic, I decided to not keep tqqq and increase my tmf stake. I think in the case of a potential downturn, this would lower my port‘s volatility. New weights are approx upro/tmf/svxy at 54/41/5 weights respectively to maximize sharpe.

Mr. God did you see Slack ($WORK) tanked when they reported earnings? Might jump a bit in the morning if the market overall is green but I'm savoring the moment as of right now.

Ahhhhhhh if I bought almost any stock on my watchlist in the morning, I'd be up like 3% - 5%. And a different stock I was watching yesterday, couldve bought it but I was being cheap again trying to save a penny a share. Last I saw it was up like almost 20 cents a share (compared to the price I couldve paid). At the same time I'm having trouble pulling the trigger. I DO NOT WANT ALL MY CASH STUCK IN STOCK THE MOMENT THE STOCK MARKET CRASHES. If it was 2010 itd be a different story but right now? Nahh to scared. Anyone have an idea when its a good time to pull out to buy cheap stock should a recession or depression hit within the next 5 years RATHER than getting stuck holding heavy bags?

Could you suggest one stock high risks/ high returns? Which one? Which field should I invest in? SIlver? Crispr? Waiting for a recession then buying Sangamo? Zoomer here looking for high risk / high reward stocks. But better wait recession, riding ilver and gold for a x5 then which kind of hype should I buy? ARMN? what do you think about?
