2) it involves both oracles connected to multiple different sources, and multiple oracles connected to similar sources
3) it was actually devised and showcased by one of the most influential financial institutions (Swift), and not just some far-fetched and deeply hidden concept

You're missing the point.
Oracles aren't just going to talk to external sources to trigger contracts, they're also going to be doing a LOT of talking among themselves.
For instance the reputation contracts, aggregation contracts, order-matching contracts, threshold signatures, ... all involve oracles working for other oracles.

This is called "network effect", and it's what makes the difference between a "decentralized oracle NETWORK" and "Oraclize but with a bunch of oracles in parallel".
