No thanks; I’ll keep my 87 shitbox ranger and save to buy a house

EMT here. You'd probably start shopping for a new car when you've seen what happens to the drivers in a head on collision between a new car and an old shitbox a couple times. It ain't pretty for the poor souls in the shitboxes.

Is there an age cut-off, or is every year incrementally better?

>Drive carefully
>Wear seatbelt
>Don't be drunk

And your chances of dying from a car accident are very low. Sorry you only see the ones who crashed, and not the thousands who survive a lifetime of driving until they die from heart failure or alzheimer's.

the old cars basically only have steel on the bottom, new cars have a steel cage around the cabin. I think the changeover happened in the '80s. But really if you dont drive like an absolute maniac its not going to matter.

Financing is smarter than buying with cash because you can invest the money and make more far more than the interest, sometimes you can even make more than the car payment
But you're too ignorant to understand this

Bike lanes are everywhere where I live, some small roads even became bike lanes and cars have to go around.

Good advice indeed. But even if you are the best of drivers, there are still many others that will make a mistake and one day it can impact you. Then it`s nice to have a new car, financially not so ofc.

Put 10% down finance for a short term. You can trade every 3-4 years and not need a DP

>thousands
You mean millions? There's over 200 million registered drivers in the US alone, and I only personally know less than 5 that died in cars.
You hear about these things everyday, but in reality it really only happens to VERY few of us.

Poverty is mostly a choice.

With that said, sometimes people dislike these purchases because they can’t afford it. Do you have the dumb behavior or your lack of being able to be dumb too? Like a sterile childless couple upset about the parenting of another household.

Some poor fool will buy it. Will think he is manly and has got “it” going on. Neighbors, friends, and family will think similar.
But we know the truth.

Wagies caging themselves.

Poverty is the natural state of man. From antiquity to the present day 99.99999% of our ancestors throughout the ages have lived and died in states of abject poverty. The last century of prosperity is a fluke, nothing more. It all returns to equilibrium eventually.

>> No.15451860

Accurate. Most "wealthy" people do this. In addition, a car payment helps them keep their credit score above 800.

Yeah, 2011 is fine.

I mean stuff from the early 90s compared to something even from 2005. I don't have any hard figures or stats. It's just that it truly takes a very horrendous crash for someone in a new/newer car to not talk away, but a good fender bender in a 1990 Civic has a decent chance of breaking bones.
