Why doesn't /biz/ invest in traditional stocks? I got justed by crypto and want to stay away from it. What stocks should I buy?

120% of my money is in traditional stocks. If you havent read 10 books about stock investing you should buy some whole world stock ETF.

Keep in mind investing is a long term game and keep buying more whether the market is up or down. Global diversification is important too. A single market can go sideways for a decade or two. The whole world just doesnt do that. Good luck!

If you start in your early 20s, have an above average salary and live frugally then you *might* make it by the time you're in your 60s. Fuck that, go big or go home.

Save & invest 50% of your income and you can easily make it in 20 years. 70% and you make it in 15 years.

If you start when you are 25 you make it when you are 45. 45 is much better than 70 or never.

You can make big gains by picking the right stocks. There are stocks that have returned 1000x you know? It is still gambling, but better gambling than crypto.

theres literally a containment general

also now is literally the absolute worst time to buy stocks.
unless you're committed to the biz way of buying high and selling low. the only thing comparable to crypto gains are options anyway.

and doesn't matter. they can implement QE again (most likely will) but all that will do is give us a couple of years. the more they QE, the harder we'll fall. you could theoretically wait for some dips to buy in the meantime, but as a retail investor it's hard to justify. crypto's next bullrun will make 2017 seem like a drop in the bucket.

The Feds have the idea that prolonging the inevitable is a good thing...so what if they QE over and over? Given how they print money like crazy, I wouldn't put it behind them to implement QE continuously for the next decade(s).

Eh, that’s a very high risk portfolio. Just invest in computer related stocks you can’t go wrong. Computers are not disappearing in our lifetime and will only become more and more engrained in our daily lives. AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, MU, Microsoft, IBM, Apple. That portfolio will carry you, even if a semiconductor or two shits the bed.

5G is the memiest or memes. You need pretty much direct line of sight because of the frequency spectrum and no one has any real idea of how to properly build the hardware to fit into a compact package like a cell phone. It’s a gimmick at best given the proliferation of wifi everywhere.

It’s not to bad if you also raise a family at the same time. Imagine retiring mid 40s and then being able to focus on spending time with your children and picking up wholesome hobbies like farming. But yeah with family you probably can at least add 10 years but even at 50 that is quite fantastic. Much better the. Becoming an old loser with nobody.

50 is much better than 70. Your accumulated wealth will probably continue to grow at a good rate, allowing lifestyle inflation and other things.

Relying on pension or socsecurity in some form stagnates your income/wealth and will prob go bankrupt.

But if people want to work forever? Go for it, champ.
