The best word of advice I can give is to target small companies and arrange meetings with their staff members to learn about the company. A positive impression will get you an interview.

If not, always ask for other people you can talk to in the company towards the end of the meeting like HR. Then you can keep talking to the first person/people you met and let them know you are applying. Even e-mail HR with them as a reference. A lot of the time, you can even squeeze interview questions out of them if they're juniors.

I have always been more of the intellectual kind of person and I know I am never going to fit in with the people I am going to work with (currently looking for a job) or have any meaningful conversation for that matter.
