Markets wanted further easing today. Bond traders aren’t as confident a “mid-cycle adjustment” in rates will be enough to keep the economy afloat.

The bond yield curve is inverted at the 10y-3mo spread.

The 2- to 10-year spread, one of the most closely watched indicators of impending recessions, shrank to the narrowest since March. It is not inverted yet.

Stock buyers are limited to only making profits if the stock rises. If they short they can make money if the stock falls. They have to get the direction right in order to profit.

But there are many different options strategies.
You can even profit if the stock trades sideways, or goes up and down.

It also requires a lot of capital to buy 100 shares of the SPY or GOOGL. But with options strategies you can trade these expensive underlyings.
