I have about 40 unopened first generation Zunes. Should I sell them now or will they be worth more in the future?

>> No.15059461

honestly, that's pretty based

>> No.15059462

I'd offer you a dollar but the shipping is on you

>> No.15059472

The batteries on them do not work and they used mechanical hard drives that are all likely seized now due to never being spun.
You have successfully held to zero Anon congrats.

Wait 30 years, then sell them as vintage items.

I think you should wait longer

what are the storage spaces OP? I'm going to an area with zero internet for five months and one of these would be great.

>> No.15059487

Holy crap what a blast from the past, I miss my old Zune HD. Some guy stole it though and lost my old computer that had those songs ;_;

I'd keep a few unopened. Those could be like pokemom booster packs down the line, or at least some MS fanboys would buy in auction years down the road

Now is probably a good time. We're currently in a phase where dumb millennials are buying "retro" gear ironically. Prices will be up. If you wait, is going to be a long hold till they become in style again.

And even if they were seized up and the batteries were crap, you can install an SD card in place of the hard disk. People used to do that with old school iPods. Zunes are still pretty popular with audiophiles so it *might* be worth it.

audiophiles? how tf does an mp3 player sound better than another mp3 player? it's mp3 quality or analog device

I think it can do FLAC playback and has a good pre-amp, things that matter to audio nerds that vary from device to device.

Sell one now, see how much it will fetch. Or set the market if there are no other competitors

even if it did support lossless, i don't imagine any preamp that fits in a portable device can be much better than any other preamp in another portable device. part of the meme about preamps is bigger = better

Play the same MP3 on a PSP and one of those old Sandisk MP3 players with the same headphones
The difference is significant. Some of the really good dedicated MP3 players from the late 00s are worth a lot of money now. No one makes high end ones anymore

why tho
I see iPods appreciating in value but Zunes idk

Have you checked ebay? Most sell for about $80 max.

And as someone mentioned the batteries are probably toast.
Hard drives should be fine though unless they were just defective from the start

Hold on to them for a few decades and you're rich as fuck.
People love paying ridiculous money for relics from the past, especially mint condition.

Honestly anon you've held for too long for them to be desired as useful objects but not long enough for them to be collectible. Definitely wait 10 years, you have nothing to lose. At that point--- maybe later though--- design museums, collectors, enthusiasts, etc will probably be interested in mint condition zunes.
