Actually if you look at litecoin you will see that it gets priced in months before the halving takes place then drops leading up to and following the halving before finally going up much much later due to the rewards being lowered.

It usually takes a year to happen, Bitcoin halving in November 2012 peaked in November 2013 and Bitcoin's July 2016 halving peaked in December 2017.
