so you're telling me that while owning LINK itself isn't generating value on its own, holders can still benefit just because collateral will be measured in LINK?

We'll be earning money by doing literally nothing, and leeching off the value from influx of capital into the network?

Don't be caught in the narrative that utility tokens capture any kind of network value.

You’re close but I’m going to write up an explanation so a normie nulinker can understand it.
You understand how Bitcoin operates? Miners are paid in block rewards for powering bitcoins network, making it more secure?
Chainlink network rewards you in a similar fashion, but instead of a proof of work system where by you secure the network in terms of computation, it operates in a proof of stake model where you secure the network in terms of capital to act as collateral. Almost like a form of insurance.

The more money is involved in this network, and the more money that you stake, the more you receive. Like a form of dividends, but instead of giving you money based off of a companies quarterly returns/percentage of ownership in said company, you receive money based off of how much capital you supply to the network to be used as collateral.

It’s the first wave of truly useful utility tokens. Never sell, only hold.

How much would say 1000 LINK give in the future per month of staking if the price of LINK is $1000.

>> No.14927896

>>14927764
that was my initial thought and bought a few shares of LP

but if collateral has to be determined by LINK, then the utility token does directly capture network value

Okay but if the links I am holding are used as collateral, and the contract gets fed bad info from the node I am staking in, I lose my links don't I? Seems extremely high risk.

There’s a possibility of losing some of your funds due to a penalty payment, but when staking for Normans goes live and the network is onbording new nodes everyday, your collateral is split amongst a number of nodes. Should 100 nodes, by the grace of god, deliver bad data then our penalty payment is taken out from the value of the contract split accordingly amongst the nodes. You would never stake $1m USD to a $1m contract as the only node and god forbid lose it to escrow should it execute incorrectly.

What sounds more risky, putting up money to a company and hoping they have a profitable year, enough profits for you to make a decent return on your dividends, or a network which operates as a necessity for hundreds of different projects which you profit off of directly from your own stake in the network?

I have 3.8k LINK should I buy LP with it?

>> No.14928274

>>14928241
my estimate is that LP will need to have 50 million LINKs staked in their nodes for 1 share to be worth the same as staking 4000 LINKs on LP nodes

We've yet to include other LP services such as NaaS, nodepool contract rental, consulting and future services though
