I actually agree that monero is incredibly important in the grand scheme of things.

Let’s face it, no one will ever and I mean ever use cryptocurrencies for its general purpose of spending it on goods and services. Why would they when they can use stablecoins. No one wants to purchase something that is work 100 dollars now but in the future it’s now 1500.

So that leaves the whole digital gold narrative. Like it or not, that’s what btc is becoming. A hedge against political uncertainty.

What it needs is privacy. You don’t go listing your bank account details online. Neither will you want the world to see your crypto holdings.

Nothing on the market is better than Monero. It works as intended. Their wallets kinda suck but that will become more normie friendly I’m sure in the future.

i used to think this same thing, but think of it this way: lets just imagine a world where fiat is gone people will still need to buy food, houses and other things.
My grandfather used to tell me he remembered when gas was 10 cents a gallon, since cryptos go up in price (at least for now) it will be the same thing but only in reverse

eventually I belive that enough people will be using cryptos that their prices will be fairly stable (may take decades)

I like the idea of privacy coins, the principle behind it is something any kind of corpcoin can't provide so it's a good differentiator. fluffypony has a trashy attitude but whatever.
Can someone explain why Monero doesn't seem to pump much? With projects going 10x or 100x left and right, it feels like it barely moves much when everything pumps.
Unless/until people start valuing privacy more I don't expect to see a shift where there's major pumps with it, and given how it just acts like most every other larger altcoin (like ltc/dash) the past 2 years, it seems like a safer bet just to hold BTC if you want to park money somewhere.

just use proper opsec and you won't have any metadata leakage.
hiding amounts is something that should never be integrated in bitcoin base layer, cause its a huge risk for potentially undetectable inflation.
no schnorr doesn't require any hard fork, it can be softforked in, in fact the BIP has already been submitted and now its being audited

See what separates us Monero-chads from you speculators is you're hoping to hold shitcoins to eventually drop your bags on new adopters and sell it for USD or whatever local fiat... we are investing in the currency of the future. Imagine you're in New England in 1750s... and you see the writing on the wall for the revolution and you have the opportunity to start stacking the future US dollar in exchange for your weird colonial credits millions of dollars at a time because "that whole freedom thing is never going to work out"... Wasabi and any other kind of Coinjoin bullshit is no replacement for default fungibility. You're already fucking flagging yourself as questionable as soon as you mix your bitcoins because it's completely obvious that you used a mixing service by looking at past transactions.
