Well, so yesterday, I went against logic, my gut, and Linus Tech Tips recommending the new AMD processors (they also sold out immediately) and I bought long put spreads. Basically once I hit 8% loss I knew it was time to cut and run and I managed to close before I lost about 15% on the option. If I had held on like a true brainlet, I would be down 50% as of right now. Will it recover? What if AMD crashes back down to earth? Time will tell, but I had to make the call to exit and I did. The chance also exists those options would have expired worthless.

Can or will? He's not going to want to move it in any significant way. But if he just came out and said "Holy shit the economy is fucked. We just got the data and its REAL bad. We're gonna have to go to negative rates and talk to Kuroda about using better QE..." Well then people would probably panic sell, algos would panic sell, same with hedgies and institutional investors, and everyone's 401K's and pension plans would be fucked.

Lenders would start calling in their corporate debt, and many companies would be insolvent and dissolve. Massive layoffs would result, and we'd enter into a massive depression. I would expect riots in city centers, and Trump would fly off to a golf course and summon the national guard.

None of that is going to happen though. Powell may not be as good as Yellen, but he's not a total idiot.

Sucky day but that's ok. Still up over 15% so I still got plenty of sweet gains.

July/August is a special time of year for me. Comcast/T/KDP/DIS all pay out you see.

AMRN is down a bit but that's ok, the real money is still on the way. T stock is down a bit but fuck that's ok to. All the more sweet divvy I'll get when it comes due. 194 shares now do I got, at the current price I'll add 2.94 more shares to my pile at payout time. Just one more payout looms this year after that, fuck man I ain't worried one bit I'll still clear 200 shares by years end.

NBY has fallen a bit, the fearful man would pull out while he still can. But there's sneaky shit going on behind the scenes. The China Pharma is loading up on NBY shares while they're cheap. A nice buyout is a coming; it's only a mater of time. This shit will be forking out least $8 per from what I've heard. Hell big time fat cats are piling in, Vanguard and Blackrock is just the tip. Back when I used to smoke a lot of pot, we used to split a cigar and take all the filler tobacco out and use the outer leaves to roll the marijuana into cigars. We called these blunts. On very special occasions we would hollow out the cigar and pack it with between a quarter and half ounce of mariujana, these were the godfather blunts. You get like half way through a god father blunt and the amount of tar and resin on the back end of that thing would be disgusting. However they'd get you fucked up.

I haven't told anyone in this thread yet, but I think Ryder (R) could be a really good buy. Let me explain. Sometime not too far back, I was browsing the /biz/ catalog and saw a thread where the premise was that the post IDs would decide what would do well (I don't remember the exact claim). I think the intention was that the ID should contain the symbol for some cryptocurrency, but both the first (and only?) two posts started with "R", which is the ticker symbol for Ryder stock. This seemed like a bullish sign at the time. I took note of that occurrence, added it to my Robinhood watchlist, and, being busy with other matters, didn't do anything further with that knowledge after that. However, yesterday I saw a Ryder truck on my way to the store which recalled the thread from earlier to my mind. I intend to do more research, but it does appear that R could be a good stock. For example, just speaking of analyst price targets, the CFRA analyst report I looked at had a target price of $80 and negative headline said some other analyst downgraded their own price target to just $62. Assuming the latter case and a purchase price of $55, that's still a more than 12.7% gain, not including dividend payments. That is just to consider a "bad" scenario. The /biz/ thread--as I recall--suggested that it should be a multibagger.

Blockchain Is a way of achieving consensus between many parties who don't trust each other at all. It's what enabled Bitcoin, among other things. Smart contracts are basically a blockchain that stores computations, and you can write automated contracts that execute safely without needing to trust anyone (eg a lottery). Now if you want to put real world data into smart contracts, then fuck, do you have to trust the people who input the data into the chain? No, that's where /biz/'s best friend, Sergey Fucking Nazarov, comes in. Chainlink solves this problem without requiring trust in the "oracles" that feed the data.

I'm looking to hold for awhile so even it goes down and I get the shares put on me I don't mind.. if the shares don't get out on me and price goes up then I'm ok with that too since the premium will go to zero. For example, I sold a jan $5 put for 1.80 if I buy that put back at .80 that's still ~20% gain on that $500 in 6 months which I'm happy with plus I'll be up on the underlying..... so I don't mind putting $500 and taking the risk of buying 100 shares at 5.. which my break even is more like 3.20 anyway...

We would be building places that are habitable first.

Honestly I'm an optimist when it comes to this stuff. I'm 30 and I'm planning to go into space myself before I'm old. The real pitfall is this; if we were somehow able to get something to fly at just a couple percent of the speed of light the next 9/11 could be planet earth and it would just be gone. I think that if we can navigate through the next 100 years we'll be fine as a species until we literally destroy the planet earth playing with something going too fast. After that the humans that will be left will be scattered across this solar system living in space stations, and then slowly through a series of accidents and small scale wars humans will be extinct within another 100 years.

If you're bugging out in Leafland you probably want 7.62x39. That's mainly because the SKS, both Chinese and Russian versions, is cheap and legal non-restricted here. Pretty well anybody who wants a semi auto rifle buys one after they've got their PAL. You buy your obligatory 12 gauge and your SKS and then maybe later you go get something more specialized for whatever fun gun fun you're in to. Leaf rules.

The number of euro-denominated junk bonds trading with a negative "yield" now stands at 14, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. At the start of the year there were none.

Cheap money policies since the financial crisis have kept interest rates at, or near, all-time lows for the last decade. That’s prompted many investors to buy riskier assets that yield enough for them to meet their liabilities, driving bond markets higher and yields lower.

> The European Central Bank said on Monday it’s ready to add more stimulus to the euro zone, indicating that an end to the age of ultra-low borrowing costs is far from over.

A little known tidbit is that if you hang out with junkies/homeless/crust punks in salt lake long enough, you'll encounter a surprising number of people who'll tell you Heroin Bob was a real person. The local legend goes that, like the movie, he was a punk guy who was afraid of needles so he never did opioids. Unlike the movie he was eventually convinced to try heroin, and the first time he shot it he OD'd and died. Maybe just an urban legend, but people still talk about him.

Nothing too crazy in Utah lol. When I was living in Colorado I had a bipolar chick start stalking me. I lived on the ground floor of the apartment I was in, and it was hot out so I kept my window open. One afternoon I woke up from a nap and saw that my window screen had a big hole in it. How odd, I thought, what could have caused that? Figured I'd fix it on the weekend, whatever. The next day I get a knock on the door, it's the cops. They had security footage of this chick coming up to my window while I was asleep, cutting a hole in the screen, and climbing in! She wasn't there when I woke up from my nap, so what the fuck did she do? I never found out, since immediately afterwards she was sent to a psych ward for a suicide attempt and we lost contact, but she had around a full hour when I was sleeping when she was in the room with me, could have done anything.
