Anyone hiring? Recent college grad. Been working since I was 9. Doing sales for the last 2 years. Considered intelligent by all my peers and school teachers, the working since 9 bit should let you know I understand how to work.

I understand that working for someone means I'm growing their profit margins, but I'd like to do something interesting, something productive, something useful. Willing to discuss further. Also graduated with Business admin major, minor in economics, and concentration in finance. Speak a second language. Highly cultured, originally from Europe, social, tall and pretty good looking. Just doing my best to sell myself here fellas.

I hate my current sales job.

That's what I already do. I want a serious job. I generated 1.7 million dollars in sales at the first sales job I was at. They were paying me shit, and offered me more shit when I told them I was leaving. I left for a slightly better shitty sales job because it was closer to home and paid slightly more. Truth be told I haven't really reached out to too many companies. Part of the whole working my entire life thing comes from being part of a poor immigrant family. I'd like a real shot. If you guys don't have anything, then guide me.

Were you paid a flat rate? I offer people 50% commission but had no takers so far.

At the first job it was a flat rate of $13 an hour with commission. The way commission was divvied up was retarded and very unfair, but I needed the work. I was averaging $20-35 an hour but they wouldn't let me work more than 24 hours a week. I made total shit. This new job offers 3% commission. It's staffing/sales. Currently haven't created any production, but I've only been there 4 weeks and I'm already generating leads while other kids have been there 6 months and still haven't generated leads or production.

Prior to the sales job I worked for both my father doing general contracting and finish work and also managing a pizza store, from payroll, to product, employee's, time sheets and basic accounting etc. Unfortunately I didn't go to a top level school. I went to a local university because I helped my family etc.

Also was a very successful at running my own "business" in high school. Can't put that on a resume though

Also what's the job that you've got.

I was on the Deans list at Uni, and I I went to a college prep high-school where I won awards in Academic Decathlon as well as participating in sports in and out of school, and took AP history along with Honors English and Foreign language.

My weakness's are centered around mathematics. At least as far as school is concerned. As far as actually being able to keep track of money and understanding basic finance and business, I'm pretty good at that. And I must admit, I lack some skills in administrative work. Not because I don't understand the concepts, but I never learned. Learning now with this new job (signing contracts, emailing, using salesforce etc.) But I'm learning fast

Generating sales in your country, taking payments and forwarding it to me less your half. Usually I say start at $500 as an asking price but personally I try to sell for around 1k, the upper limit is really how much you think someone will pay though.

That's something I don't know much about. So this brings me to a new question. Should I continue on with finance as originally intended. Or should I start learning more about web development/programming. I'm at a crossroads. Truth be told, I hate sales, despite being pretty good at it. I have the option of continuing my finance education, which I'm not a fan of, learning more about computers and software, which is kind of an interest, or just saying fuck it and traveling and making films/writing which are my true passions.

Also what country are you in

I'm in Australia.

Web development isn't really that difficult, if you're only doing static sites you need basically 0 knowledge, anything more complex than that can usually be done with Wordpress and barring that as an option I would say you don't even need to be that skilled, just have a good head on your shoulders.

As for your education, I don't know, it depends what you want. I went this way specifically because I don't want much, I just want to retire in 10 or 15 years and live in the middle of nowhere on a bit of land and raise chickens or something, which I think is pretty easily obtainable like this and it will provide some passive income to keep me afloat.

I'd like a nice car, something vintage I can work on, make look nice, operate nice. I'd like land that I can build my own home on. I want to build something beautiful, decent size. I have the background to do it. I want to spend my time reading, writing, playing music, producing etc. I'm an artist at heart. I'd like to afford decent vacation or traveling expeditions. Not resort style, think more Anthony Bourdain. And I'd like a woman who is down with this kind of life. Had a gf for 6 years who was pretty much all about money. So basically If I can afford to work from home doing some kind of finance/computer related task, maybe own some apartments or other real estate to live off. I like staying busy, but I value my time. After 13 years of working, I'm getting tired of doing it for others.

How much do you earn? How did you get into it? And how difficult is it to break into the market now? Like I said, I'm not too tech savvy. Although I did recently start teaching myself Java

>> No.1459414

>>1459396
I don't really earn anything outside of a few sites I'm hosting from past clients, enough to keep my hosting paid for and maybe another $150 p/y so about $300 gross. I lack motivation to actively seek clients because I get NEETbux so there's really no incentive for me to actively look for new clients.

I got into web design through happenstance, I studied IT infrastructure and a family friend asked me to build a website for them, a few months later I applied for an IT support job which was actually more IT support/web design and got that job because of the site I'd built and because it was in the same industry the company was in. I worked there for a couple of years and got disillusioned with the workload and working 9-5 like a filthy peasant and quit.

The market isn't too difficult to get into, people tend to "upgrade" their website about once every 2 years in my experience and most people aren't that tech savvy, there are some clients which are easier to grab than others depending on the demographic of those business owners and how important a website is to their business, and once you have a portfolio there's likely to be some word of mouth (I had someone approach me for a reworking of their website but they couldn't afford what I quoted at the time, about 7k).

So I already have finance skills. Is it worth my time to start learning about web development/programming, or should I just focus on my finance and suck it up? This is my major dilemma right now. Im a fast learner but this new sales job is 45 hours a week. 8 AM to 5:30 pm and I'm usually tired after the gym. Just go home and read or watch netflix

Personally I don't think there's real money to be made in actual web development, I think if you wanted to go that way the better thing to do would be to get a basic understanding of how web hosting works and outsource and actual work to Indians or Russians.
