I find it easier to set recurring transfer to my savings/investment accts. The money gets deducted automatically and I spend whatever is left. And I gradually increase the amount transferred. Put away several grand this way.

Earn 4500$ usd after taxes from job one, and between 600$ and 900$ for job two, save between 100$ and 1000$ depending on the families/houses needs that month

I set a target to spend £300 on essential shit (which also includes at least two meals out and beer money - I don't want to be a fucking pauper loser) and then invest everything else.

I stopped saving once I built up an emergency fund of 6 months expenses, except for a Help To Buy ISA @ 2.5% (30% bonus up to £12,000 towards a purchase of a property) which I can only put a max of £200 a month in. Otherwise I just invest everything else, saving interest rates are dogshit, I can make more on crypto.
