You all know what that shooting star candle means, right?

We'll soon get a nice buying opportunity at around $8k to $9k.

Statement of the obvious. It's almost like a bull thinks the price will go up or something.

Can one of you traders explain something to me?

I have $120k cash. Let's say I put it all into a trading account and put it all into Bitcoin at its current price ($10.3k).

Let's say the price keeps going down. At what point in the drop would I get liquidated?

Shooting star does not apply in uptrends, it's literally 50% chance it's going to go up and 50% change it's going to go down, meaningless.

depends on the leverage you choose
liquidation is roughly at 100%/(leverage*percent in opposite direction)

so at 100x leverage you liquidate when it moves 1% in the wrong direction, at 25x when it moves 4% wrong etc.

Candlestick signals, when converging with trend, do actually work rather well in crypto.
But a shooting star in a bullish market is not one of these signals.

path of least resistance in markets is the path of most pain.

>we will not go higher than$4k, instead we will break $3k support and go to $2k!! $1800 is on the table!!

rekt

>ok, we have broken $4k and are now knocking on $5k, but $6k is a gigantic support turned resistance! BTC wont break $6k until 2020!! short at $6k

absolutely rekt, blasts through $6 and 7k

>not a chance this manipulated rally goes past $10k! long term resistance from April 2018!! short here

rekt once again

>$14k, shorters have necked

and here we are, hovering around $10-11k. If everyone thinks we will get a buying opp at $7-8k, it will either not happen, destroy shorters once again, or simply create a V shaped bottom from this level, not giving many a chance to get in before continuing higher.

Bear trend is OVER. trend is your friend until the end of the trend, and the trend is UP.

See pic. I'm good at saving which means once a year I can go all in on a move without it hurting my wallet. Even if I lose it all, I'll just have the same amount half a year from now.
>>14510767
See above + the fact we can live fine on $2k/month.
>>14510717
Okay, so let's say I have no leverage (if that's possible - I'm very lay). Let's just say the $120k cash gets me 11.65 bitcoins, right? Okay, so what price does 1 bitcoin have to be in order for all 11.65 of my bitcoins to go poof?

>> No.14510871

Or we go much lower. It's always either a frontrun or an unexpected breakthrough.
With the rise to 14k it was the same. No one was looking at 14k. Most people were aiming much lower and we ended up going much higher

If you simply hold Bitcoin or any other coin that is 1x long position.
There is no liquidation price unless it goes to zero you can sell it for something.

you are confusing bitcoin itself with CTF (leverage) trading. people here are split between those that choose to "just" buy and hold until it is time to sell. those peoples bitcoin (if they keep them in a safe wallet and not on scammy online exchanges) will never go poof as long as the network exists - which is until we have quantum computers capable of breaking the encryption, basically (possibly never). this is quite clearly the best option for 99% of all people, as you have to significantly outperform the market to beat it in leverage trading (there are fees, huge taxes etc.).
the other group is people that "bet" their already existing bitcoin via CTF contracts on sites like bitmex. THOSE peoples bitcoin can go poof if they screw up, but judging by your level of knowledge you shouldnt become part of that group anyway - you would lose everything, guaranteed.

I'm totally alien to trading - I was confused by the concept of leverage in this context. I wanted to make sure I can treat it at a 1:1 ratio in regular circumstances.
