not gonna make it

>> No.14498317

no matter what news, listings and partnerships Ripple brings out, the price is stuck. It has always been like this and probably always will be, bar December 2018, but that was all crazed Koreans buying it because there wasn't much else to buy then.

There is an IMMENSE sell pressure always present from Ripple. Still some 58 billion XRP left for them to "distribute", it shouldn't take them more then a decade or two.

The escrow unlocks 1 Billion per month for 55 months.

>> No.14498552

>>14498466
and you think that 1 billion a month being made available to the market is not enough to dampen any price increase? 1% of the total supply EVERY SINGLE MONTH?

When was the last time they sold ALL of the 1 bil?

Even at full whack it would take them 5 years to sell it all, not to mention it would totally cripple (pun intended) the market.

>> No.14498587

>>14498552
They haven't been selling the full 1 Billion per month. On the one hand, I think the fact that they are selling a few hundred million per month is a good sign, because it means that smart money is buying it in large quantities. On the other hand, we don't know how much of a discount is being offered, and how much is immediately dumped on the retail market for a quick profit.

>> No.14498617

So to sum it up, if you hold XRP you are going to get fucked by Ripple or whoever they sell their bags to OTC for the next decade or two.

It is indeed part of their NDAs and other contractual obligations. Ripple has released statements on how their OTC sales work in their reports.

The majority of their sales to exchanges make up the 'programmatic sales' portion of their OTC. Institutional direct sales are the ones under contract.

Since XRP isn't a mineable coin, I don't think we're going to come to an agreement on a suitable definition of what the actual circulating supply is. I would like to see what provided your conclusion that the circulating supply is increasing so maybe we could talk about it more.

the circulating supply as listed on CMC or Livecoinwatch. Where do they get the data from? I guess only from what Ripple reports. Unfortinately they don't chart it, just list the latest, but somebody over at XRPChat is keeping tabs on it and it has increased significantly since the ATH.

>> No.14499630

>>14499463
That is the issue. CMC just lists the circulating based directly on what Ripple reports as distributed in total. Are all the private wallets currently in escrow, made by random fucko nobodys, currently in circulation? Circulating supply is an awful metric to judge a premine by.

There are plenty of people dumping on XRP. Jeb Mcaleb, charities Ripple has donated millions and millions to, and startups founded and funded by Ripple partners and former employees. These probably have very little(but some) effect on suppressing price for the long term.
The price of XRP depends on the utility and velocity of the network. If anything an increased circulating supply points towards their ability to make the market is weakening because of how they are restricted in how much they can dump monthly.

>> No.14499751

>>14499630
selling as a percentage of trading volume has a HUGE impact on the price, since most of the volume is wash trading, i.e. fake. The real volume, where two unrelated parties exchange XRP for fiat and back is miniscule by comparison, certainly not in the billions reported on CMC.

>> No.14499865

if these "groups" are Ripple themselves as a company or individuals. You tell me what effect on the price that may have long term. It would take them a decade to dump it all at the current pace. If you think thats all hunky dory, that's you prerogative. I am more inclined to think this stinks to high heaven and XRP is something to be avoided as the plague because of it.
