If you dont want to spend money and have an old laptop or computer which you dont use anymore:

- Install Linux on Laptop/PC (doesnt matter which distro)
- NEVER connect it to the internet to be extra safe (if you arent a retard you are still safe if you connected to the internet since you use linux)
- Create your MEW Wallet offline
- Transfer your coins to the adress of your wallet
- Profit

Sell your Link. I've been through this sort of thing before. You will lose your money. I don't know when you bought but you might have gone up over 10x. You have to secure this profit, redistribute into other coins, put it into Bitcoin, put it into dollars, just anything but keep it all in this one coin. You will NOT like the feeling of losing half overnight. This isn't FUD. I went from $350k to $30k because I wanted to keep my coins in a device like that instead of selling. Don't do it.

It's not, but is way less prone to attack than winblows and mac os.
For extra layers you could have CubesOs.

Did someone try Subgraph Os here btw?

I was told I could coin flip 256 times to create an unironic 256bit private key. Just not sure how I would manually generate a public address from that.
Any ideas?

How long until there are trusted institutions that will safeguard our LINK stacks? All this cold wallet and trezor bullshit won't save you if someone breaks into your house and starts peeling off your fingernails until you give up the private key. This is unironically something to worry about when LINK hits $100+

Alright I know exactly how to do this. I spent like half a day planning & storing my linkies safely. Here's what you do:

1. Buy a Nano Ledger S
2. Set up your Ledger with the 24 words.
3. Reset your ledger completely and set it up again with the same 24 words. Make sure your public address is still the same.
4. Now for storing the 24 words, it doesn't really matter all that much as I will show you in the next point, just put it in a safe place. What I personally did was boot up an old laptop without an internet connection, store them in an encrypted volume and put it on multiple USB sticks + a dedicated Dropbox account. You will get an email once a new user has accessed your Dropbox account, so it should be fairly safe. Only do this when you are very certain no one will guess your passwords.
5. Alright now for the fun part. You can add a passphrase to your Nano Ledger, essentially adding a 25th word to your wallet. Without this passphrase even when someone manages to find your 24 words they will still not have access to your linkies. What I did was use the name of a good friend and something personal I knew about that person. I wrote down a phrase which surely would make me remember. Something like 'Your friend's name that keeps on dropping The Office references + his favorite seafood'
6. Always add the passphrase temporarily. It will take some time to access your wallet, but at least it will be safe.

I used to have a Nano Ledger set up with the 24 words tucked away in my closet. Anyone that entered my home could simply take the paper and steal my coins. Luckily I recently moved my coins using this method. I can tell you I sleep a whole lot better now.

Also forgot to mention: test and test again, don't be a brainlet about it. Reset your ledger and make sure you will never ever forgot or lose your 24 words + passphrase. There's more people losing their coins due to their own stupidity than theft.
