how about get a job?

only way to put 80%+ of post tax into investments is to have NUTTY cheap rent (like $200/month), live with parents, or make >200K
I'm at ~60% of post-tax income into investments, gotta pay my mortgage and eat...
unless you're doing some calculus where you count paying the mortgage as investing?

>the money you have after all your expenses are paid
in that case maybe I'm 95%

but the reason no one ever talks about savings rates 'after all your expenses are paid', is because you want to be minimizing your fixed expenses !

let's say you have two kids making 5k/month. One has a car loan on something fancy and an apartment downtown (2500/month for living and auto expenses), the other has a cheaper car and living situation (1500/month for the same expenses).

if the person with the more expensive lifestyle saves ~80% after the fixed expenses, the person with lower cost of living can save more per month on the same income with only a 60% savings rate (the way that you are stating teh savings rate).

Basically, the way to always consider savings rate apples-to-apples is to consider the savings rate per ALL pre-tax income. That's the way economists or accountants would do it, otherwise your savings rate is some weird floating number that doesn't mean anything.

I just realized how Men in Black is the culmination of years of civil rights struggle. Will Smith is the first negro recruited by MIB and coincidentally this story is a about a "black" negro. He goes into the space force, macks on the wh*toid thot, plays some killer tunes forcing the aliens to get down, shouts npc catchphrases as part of his psyop against aliens. I never realized how racially focused that movie was. Brainwashing a whole generation, that movie was trying to bring the negro into the wh*te man's world, onscreen and offscreen.

yeah no problem

make sure you look at some real fundamentals:
amount of debt
earnings
earnings growth

it's some nerd shit but you can find all these numbers on the internet. basically you don't want a company with unpalatable debt that is losing money, even if it's really cheap, it's a risky short-term play.
looking for the long term turnaround plays, you want companies that aren't even close to losing money. maybe there's been some bad news or sales slowed down a little over a long period of time, and so all investors aren't loving the stock anymore. But it's still a real company making plenty of real money.
there's a lot of companies out here like that.

of course there are also times when the whole market moves down together and everything gets cheap all at the same time
well, that might not ever happen again, who knows, so you gotta be like a sniper, watch these stocks for days huddled up in the hills pissing in bottles and eating rabbits and shit before you take your shot
you gotta be ready to stay in position for MONTHS then call off the shot if it don't feel right

>>14320403
depends on what the order book looks like
like there will be buys and sells at different numbers in the system already
it's some nerd shit but you can look that up

define "beat" it's honestly not that hard to become a successful investor/trader with basic knowledge of economics and trading/investing strategies. The reason most people don't is because of either lack of trying to learn or just simple financial retardation. 58% of Americans have something like less than 1000 dollars in savings, that should tell you something about the average human when it comes to being responsible with money. The average person is a brainwashed sheep who lacks any discipline and chases corporate derived fantasies to fuel their materialism and rampant consumerism.

(assuming you're in the USA, have a social security number, etc.):

Robinhood is good for buying individual stocks. get a referral code from someone in these threads so that you can share a free stock and a beautiful moment together (no homo)

For ETF investing TDA, Schwab, Vangaurd and others have free-buy ETFs. And they're generally considered the more 'adult' or 'traditional' online brokerages if that means anything to you.

But if you want to buy/sell individual stocks you have to pay a commission, while with Robinhood you don't have to pay commission for stocks, ETFs, or options buys or sells (which is a HUGE advantage for RH)

Lets say you’re a young person buying a stock, and the person you’re buying from is a boomer ready to retire.
They want cash, you want stock. Neither of you is beating the other. Or if you buy a stock that goes up, but the person that sold it to you bought another stock that went up more. Or maybe they bought a boat so they could have a good time at the lake, or make an improvement to their house.

Having such a limited and competitive idea about someone always having to ‘win’ or ‘lose’ in a stock purchase isn’t a realistic or helpful way to think about things. Good investors aren’t looking for positions thinking “oh I have to BEAT the other guy on the marketplace as much as possible”, because for most transactions that doesn’t even make sense, it’s not something quantifiable.
Look for the best opportunities and positions for you, with each individual position working as part of a larger strategy.

I think Canada's botched sales rollout has a lot to do with that. The big two or three Canadian LPs are have not posted good numbers. Not their fault (it's the government's fault) but not good for that mad gold rush sentiment weed had back in 2017-2018. Whatever the fuck this news cycle is its just a total waste of everyones time. Literally nothing is wrong with any of the major developed economies. The US is doing well, Aus/NZ are doing well except for a very minor housing decrease. Asia is fine, Europe is slow as fuck getting anything done as usual but thats been par for the course for ages.

If Trump was not being a little bitch right now there would be literally nothing negative to talk about at all. And even IF for some impossible reasons everything came crashing down tomorrow do I really need to point out that the SP500 over its life time has returned more than ANY other investment vehicle, and mathematically you would have done better just putting your money into it regardless of it doing well or poorly and thats including two world wars, multiple other wars, multiple depressions and economic disasters.

God I wish we could just see every posters yield. I bet literally no one on this board except those who stick to indexes have done well for themselves except the statistically inevitability of a handful outperforming due to pure luck.

ETF's should be ok for at least one year, depends on when you think the next recession (2020 election time is next likely place it could pop up, assuming no major black swans)

but at the end of the day we cant see the future, maybe the market decides to crash the moment you put money in (unlikely, but not impossible)

banks dont give good yields most of the time though, especially now, with interest rates being how they are...

If you can get enought shares of American stocks without getting raped by commission, I'd recommend split a portfolio up between SPY, DIA, QQQ, IWD, and possibly some in bonds ( just SPY and DIA is good too)

Ignore people telling you to use leveraged ETFs like TQQQ or SQQQ, because maintenance fees will eat that ETF's value away over time

Guys
Imagine you see a stock that increases in value significantly one day, like 20-30%.
If you were unaware, there's something known as "hidden relationships" in the stock market, and whenever those are uncovered by the public, the stocks that do have hidden relations to the stock that pumped a few days ago are also likely to pump or atleast increase in value. It's not guaranteed all of them will see as much increase in value, but it's very likely.

Now, finding those hidden relationships are extremely difficult and will take time and effort...unless you have a state-of-the-art machine learning algorithm which can find such hidden relations on day one. This algorithm then allows you to make "smart baskets" containing stocks with these hidden relationships, ergo stocks that are very likely to see an increase in value influenced by the stock they have hidden relationship with.
Then you can buy the stocks that these smart baskets contain and you are almost guaranteed to see an increase in return of investments in the coming days.
>"but this kind of complicated algorithm can possibly not exist, this is way beyond the scope of what humans are able to create!"

Except it does

Biggest concerns be methane release from melting permafrost and lowering albedo from glacial meltage, but those are largely a result from temperature changes that result from CO2 related temperature change, and methane is “temporary” factor, even if more effective in terms of greenhouse effect.

>Where do you get the idea that human CO2 activity doesn’t effect the climate?
we might, but we are largely insignificant.
what gases we do or do not have in our atmosphere means little in contrast to the state of our electromagnetic field (look at mars) and the output of our sun.

The simple fact that there is clear agenda behind the CO2 craze (increase taxation and regulation) should make the free mind question. How exactly have we made the conclusion that CO2 effects all these different aspects of the weather, seemingly contradictory? this especially because of the original thesis of global warming (the warming part). Now we can't have a blizzard without it being blamed on CO2 levels. but the original idea is that the properties of CO2 (and others like methane) act insolatory thereby making the earth retain more of the energy it receives from the sun.

And then we saw the enviroment changing (but it always has and always will regardless of what we do...but lets ignore that) and made a huge misscorrelation.
>CO2 did this!
proof?
none

meanwhile there is massive historical evidence of solar cycles effecting the climate in exactly those ways that the global warming gang now attribute to CO2
If you are young you wont know this, but what effects on weather we attribute to the CO2 has changed constantly, at the whim of vested interest

solar models are also generally better at predicting weather (a farmer would know)

>The simple fact that there is clear agenda behind the CO2 craze (increase taxation and regulation) should make the free mind question
this is an interesting bit of mental gymnastics.
if, say, your country was being physically invaded by another nation. is there any way to convince a man who adamantly believes it's a ploy for the government to restrict freedoms and that all evidence is faked of the fact. or do you think he's right in standing his ground?

Why do you doubt that CO2 is affecting climate change? Greenhouse gases absorb infrared light and re-release them as heat. That has the effect of increasing the average temperature with increasing atmospheric concentrations of said gases.
Pic related is from 1912 - the thermodynamics are simple and well understood.
You say this hysteria is all about taxation but most taxes (such as in Canada) are proposed on polluting businesses and then paid back to the public as a form of dividend. What's wrong with that?

Please don't forget that serious people who are thinking about this problem hate what politicians are doing to this issue. Bill Gates himself criticized AOC's misunderstood fear tactics of saying the world will end in 12 years and described it as 'unhelpful'.
