Bitcoin has no value other than supply and demand. The reason the price is going up is because there is more demand for it.

As to why there is demand, people are getting edgy about the global economy, no matter where you look things look either like they are decreasing or stagnating. This makes people very nervous because they dont know whether we will recover or not, so its safer to throw money into 'safe' investments like gold, stock indexes, property, ect rather than into more risky ones.

For some stupid reason people view bitcoin as a 'safe' option, even though its actually worthless as an investment, in fact its not an investment, its a pure gamble on whether you think it will increase in demand or not and no one can tell you that. If things suddenly go well with G20 then it will likely decrease in value as people take money back into more risky investments, if things go poorly bitcoin will go up.

Basically the coin is just a panic button, the more people panic the higher it goes. The less people panic the lower it goes. But its also self defeating, if people panic too much and the value increases there is no guarantee it will hold its value so people sell which is what happened last time it mooned, it got to 20K and people panicked it would decrease, so they sold, so it decreased, so they panicked, ect.

If you want to gamble with bitcoin I would just leave this bubble out, it will crash eventually again, once it crashes wait a few months after that and start buying it slowly bit by bit, eventually the next time people panic again it will sky rocket, then sell it bit by bit every day. Rinse and repeat this.

As Buffet once said, be greedy when others are fearful and fearful when others are greedy.
