Just a word of caution about SLVO and GLDI - I do advocate holding some amount (1-2.5% each) as a nice little hedge, but understand what you’re getting into. Look at the price history, but don’t be scared off by it. Just understand that while the value of gold and especially silver fallls, the sold contract premium isn’t enough to make up for that, so the price has decreased.
Now silver /probably/ can’t go much lower, but we’ll see. Either way, be sure to plot out the SLVO and GLDI price + payouts and compare vs QYLD.
Of course, if you manually run a covered call strategy you will save a little bit in fees, but this depends on having enough in your account to sell a robust call program and to also properly nail the spreads. So paying the fees on something like these and QYLD isn’t as bad as it seems
Hope it makes sense

SPY is less than 1% from ATH. If Jerome Powell even hints at a cut then he needs to be fired immediately. The FED needs to be a greater position of power than the president to prevent interference. Everyone knows a hike is required with how crazy economy has been doing but no one wants to admit it. SPY up 20% YTD is NOT sustainable. We need rate hikes so we have ammo for eventual recession. Basically the way DF is now they will never make money, they are losing money every quarter.
Their current management doesn’t really have a nice plan to return them to profitability, they’re just trying to sell what they can
But if you play it right and buy on oversold condition you can make money milking it real slow, there are some nice little +10% days I’ve found the past few months.

DF isn’t a profitable turnaround play like KHC or NWL, it’s more of a bottom feeder stock IMO
Which is a shame because it’s really a genuine well meaning American company that just wants to sell dairy products. They have good products, nice employees, great cows. But dairy just isn’t rad or hip with the kids these days like it used to be. They all want to eat $20 burgers made of peas and tide pods and shit

How profitable is dairy anyway? I remember when I used to work at Walgreens, one of the items that we couldn't use our employee discount on was dairy, and my manager said that it was because they (Walgreens) don't make a lot of money on it. >>14231784
Correct, but I'm not sure about the "selling" part. We are pretty heavily bought, but all Powell has to do is say he's paying close attention to the data and is ready to act because he wisely raised rates, so now he has the ability to lower them.

But, let's look to Japan, which has engaged in ULTRA-QE.

>How profitable is dairy anyway
man I have no idea what the hard numbers look like sorry
I'd have to start looking up costs of cows and farmland and milking machines and frozen transport....
basically, it isn't cheap. If you have a good operation with newish machinery and good supply chain, and strong brands that sell, you can still make money. The issue with DF is that all their infrastructure (equipment and logistics) is old and inefficient (there is a whole history with walmart in there).

Something like milk (or any other dairy product) is so healthy and full of life and nutrients that basically every bacteria in the universe just wants to live in it and multiply. That's where a lot of the cost comes from, compared to so many other goods. gotta keep it cold and properly stored from the moment it gets pasteurized to the moment someone buys it in a grocery store.
A lot can go to waste, groceries don't sell all their milk in time and have to throw some away. so that cost gets passed on to the consumer.

On the other hand germans are mad because the German people are scared of investing into stocks and instead put everything into savings accounts. So now the germans hate the poor eurocountries and the poor eurocountries hate the germans.

Kohl's was doing nothing but tanking, I wasn't well versed enough on the subject to consider keeping it. As for Nintendo, some of their heavy hitters aren't coming until 2020 (like most of the games industry) so I figure later in the year after I sell ATVI at its peak I'll go back to Nintendo and start diversifying.

Mobile gaming seems like a winner though, and nintendo hasn't found their flagship mobile game yet. ATVI may also actually end up winning out from Diablo Mobile.

While mobile gaming does have its own future, games with microtransactions are the big money makers. Currently there's not enough audience for mobile games to really be worth anything right now.

Of course people will still buy it and they'll make a profit off of it, but I would hold out until ATVI blows their entire load.

A safe bet right now is now MSFT, as they've got MC Dungeons coming out (which will sell, purely from memes and MC licensing popularity) as well as the even bigger Scarlett releasing this year. Now is most definitely the time to start buying into games companies as next year E3 is going to be much better than this year. This year was kinda a shitfest.

It was only running the way it was because shorts were getting absolutely railed

the risk of buying puts on something megabouncy like that is when it suddenly settles, you're ass out. BYND IV dries up and you need it to move but suddenly it won't

which I warned you about on Thursday or Friday pretty clearly :p

We'll see though, this could be the calm before a renewed short pressure pushes it back down to 120.
BUT it won't necessarily happen on your time-table, the stock could hover in range for a week or two before being sent down to the meaty dungeons

You gotta start a BYND e-coli scare REALLY quick

but also when trading options the way you do, short term stuff, you HAVE to understand how volatility really works. You can't just look at the market VIX and say, oh, that's the volatility for BYND right now. You can't treat BYND price like it will bounce around for the rest of your put duration, just because it had so far.
Like if you're buying more 'out in the middle of the market' options like SPY contracts or whatever, then you can look at the VIX, and you can anticipate that there isn't something like a massive short float being forced to cover
but BYND is/was a whole different ball game than that. Because of the fundamentals of the options contracts involved

>>14237298
what you said is the expected case. I expect it too
I unironically hope that they hike by 0.01% just to fuck with algos, but Jerome is too serious for that.

If he cuts I'll be a little surprised, I think it'll give TV people a lot to talk about but I don't know how much a maintain or a slight cut really changes the fundamental landscape right now. People will all talk like it's a huge deal, but it really isn't
