Better than gpu. Easier to set up. I use antpool and it gives you the stratum you need for which ever coin you are mining.i mine etc to meet using their pool.

I was thinking either diamonds or opals. I don't have the cash or line of credit to go looking for minerals just yet.

You have to restart them once in a while, so you need some kind of a easy access. Also, bear in mind that you gonna need at least fi 3mm cable too keep up with ~1,5kW power consumption. 2mm's gonna melt, when the hot weather comes. Plug them directly to the power source, don't use extension. Clean them once in a while, like once a month. Dirt's gonna mess with the air circulation, and block the airflow between heatsinks. The fan is loud as hell, like a jet, so you cant keep them at home or in a garage. You gonna need a cashout scheme, ask yourself a question, do you have funds to run this kind of operation? Are you gonna pay the bills from the farm directly, or from other sources? Its not always profitable to mine.

If you have an usefull gov connection, be careful. Think about some backup plan, they might want to screw you up at some point.

Installation and maintenance isn't a problem, but if you want to operate at scale you need LOTS of infrastructure for power (MW-grade) as well as enough cooling infrastructure for that power. I would recommend hiring a consultant or you will fuck yourself over.

>>14224608
Also this. Governments hate crypto miners and as soon as the ecowarriors start complaining you're fucked.

You would not not plug all of your miners to one wall socket would you? You need a facility that's been properly designed to handle that kind of power.

asics a shit, they become worthless in a year or two and cant be resold for shit
gpus hold their value and are much quieter, asics will btfo your eardrums

4 cents is good tho, i been mining 4 years on 8 cents

Each miner can draw between 1000-1600w of power or more depending on model. A standard household 20A circuit can barely support 1x and stay safely under 80% load, and a household 240v can barely support 3-4x units. In order to mine at scale you will literally need to have a commercial warehouse and get the power company to install massive transformers just to power the operation. Now add 25% to that total infrastructure just to cool the units. Remember that a large portion of that wattage is converted into heat, and you need to get it away as fast as possible.

The fact that you are asking these questions means that you seriously should reconsider your venture, or seek out someone with the expertise to set you up with a turn-key operation.

>> No.14226787

>>14225445
Yes you can but it's much more complicated and requires a lot more fine tuning to get stable. ASICs are plug and play simple, but their resale value is limited while you can recover some investment from GPUs. Thankfully there's been some recent developments that make setting up a GPU farm much easier.

>>14225478
You can find someone domestic, just DYOR. If you're willing to have some trust in /biz/ though, drop a throwaway and I'll reach out. Never set up an operation at industrial scale, but have loads of mining experience regardless and could give you some pointers.

>>14225518
An electrical engineer or consultant would have plenty of insights into your power infrastructure, but probably isn't familiar with mining if they haven't worked with it before. One way or another you will need to hire a contractor at some point for this part of the operation.

>>14225547
Yes you can "mine" BTC with GPUs, just not directly. There are plenty of autoswitching pools out there that will mine the most profitable algorithm and automatically exchange all the shitcoins for the currency of your choice.

>> No.14226869

>>14223714
I have free electricity (to a reasonable degree) and even I wouldn't consider mining. You'll be glad if you ever break even.
