i have a question. i thought ETFs didn't track/copy the markets, but select some stocks and invest the money they have. am i wrong? aren't they specialized institutions that invest the money you give them?

I work for a fortune 100 as a corporate accountant with a CMA and CPA. I used to have some faith in anon. None of you know how to actually value a company. You can't read financial statements. For fuck's sake you think TA works and the entire field of decision science churns out dissertations every other day highlighting their absolute dismay at the fact that brainlets ever consider using it. Women don't understand how male lust actually operates. Women think that men experience women as "the Beautiful," as something pleasant and trifling that can be enjoyed at a distance and then allowed to pass on. They think that a picture of themselves wearing clothing that shows off all their fat and all their soft skin and warm nice holes is like a postcard with a picture of a beach on it. But to men, female beauty is not the Beautiful, it's the Sublime, it's not trifling but great and terrible, and it stirs something great and terrible and daemonic in man's subterranean depths that impels him forward to fuck things from roughly below and behind the prostate area.

basically the market is crabby and unpredictable right now, so don't buy options.
buy shares and sell options.
if you grab some ETNs like QYLD, SLVO, GLDI, USOI (proportions 60/5/5/5/5 and the rest in cash or bond funds), that should do you right.

you can also consider paper trading if you want to be active, you can track what options you want to buy and see how their price changes over time. :^). then you can learn without losing real money

I'm concerned you might have a difficult time naming your different yachts.

I'm concerned that you'll be making all kinds of money, and making the rest of us look dumb in comparison

I'm concerned that you have unlocked the singularity of wealth generation, and you'll pull all the highest quality women of all ages into your massive harem. you're like a black hole of success, it's impossible for money to escape your pull. there are probably dollar being siphoned from my bank account right now to make your options more valuable.

all that being said, I hope your options play works out for you.
but it might not, you might lose some money.
the most important thing is to make time and compounding interest work for you, not against you. when you buy calls and puts, time works against you. if time goes by without the price of the underlying moving in the direction you need it to, you're losing money.
and losing money undermines compounding. as long as you're compounding above inflation, you're good. your gains are working together to grow your wealth. risk plays like options undermine compounding as well, so instead of your worth being a nice smooth exponential increase towards infinity, it's more of a random walk up and down (eventually, down quite a bit).

deeper in the money options (lower call strikes and higher put strikes) are less likely to lose your entire investment. But you're also less likely to make the sicknasty 'winning the lottery' 1000% gains that you can post screenshots of on the internet.

The fact that you decided on an options play and went all in without knowing that information should seem somewhat concerning to you. you bought at the money, which is OK. again the lack of basic options knowledge doesn't mean that you won't make money. but you are gambling, and it's not normal gambling, you're buying contracts that are probably sold to you by institutions/people with much more information and understanding of the options market.

basically I'm continuing to screenshot your posts and some of the other posts in this thread because they are pure gold. your posts are like Chinese space weed stocks to me, I can't get enough.

Going to have the most controversial game of the year, Black Ops, every kid will want it to piss off their parents and every soiboi "I need to be a part of the conversation" jerkoff will need to talk about it its not just Blizzard. Also Diablo Mobile will kill it soon and they are making bank selling the same game twice with WoW classic.

Your longs seem fine except BABA seems awkward now that they are doing a split soon.

Good luck hopefully you'll only lose a little money and can treat it like gambling.

I just want to share my story in a blog post. I had gained a lot in 2017 by using an indicator and trading indexes, gold, and oil. In 2018 I lost everything I had gained and a substantial amount of my principal. I had abandoned my original indicator and panicked when the market collapsed. I tried to catch the falling knife with leveraged etfs over and over, slowly bleeding down. In December I was out of the market. I all but missed the January pump. I reevaluated everything, and started to use my principal to make cash, and pulled out my gains each month. Lads, I've just about broken even. I have an extremely low risk portfolio with about 50% cash at any given time. I plan on doubling my withdrawals in 2020. I feel good, like I can make it this way. I hope this story inspires each and every one of you who has seen red. /blogpost

I don't hate CMG, I buy their food. But their share price is nutty overvalued right now. They have to experience sustained and strong earnings growth just to justify their current valuation. Meanwhile, a single slow quarter could take their share price back towards 600 or under very easily. not to mention the fact that any surprise (disease outbreak, increased costs of food commodities, Mexico tariffs re-instated) would also take a significant chunk off their share price.

I don't think anyone from here has followed me so far in buying CMG puts. that's fine, as long as I try
