the most important thing is to make time and compounding interest work for you, not against you. when you buy calls and puts, time works against you. if time goes by without the price of the underlying moving in the direction you need it to, you're losing money.
and losing money undermines compounding. as long as you're compounding above inflation, you're good. your gains are working together to grow your wealth. risk plays like options undermine compounding as well, so instead of your worth being a nice smooth exponential increase towards infinity, it's more of a random walk up and down (eventually, down quite a bit).

I don't hate my job but I'm not real devoted to it either. Soon as I hit the retirement point I'm gone. Not be one of those who work at the same place 50 yrs or retire and then come back after 12 months or work again period after I retire. It's a means to an end.
