Simply because the market “needs link” to equal collateral doesn’t mean that link will become collateral. You’re reasoning is a tautology. Things that are used as collateral have an underlying value.

Here is your logic:

LINK will be valuable because it will be used as collateral
LINK will be used as collateral because it has value

This proposition doesn’t work, no one will underwrite a smart contract using link as collateral. The whole purpose of collateral is that it is usually a stable and liquid source of value. Imagine if my contract fails and I receive 100 million USD in LINK to sell as my collateral, so I sell the 100 million link which affects the price and the collateral of OTHER contracts. Such a system would be beyond moronic as all the collateral across the entire network of contracts would be a single asset, you would have extreme price sensitivity. No one would do this.
