" Roads are made, streets are made, services are improved, electric light turns night into day, water is brought from reservoirs a hundred miles off in the mountains -- and all the while the landlord sits still. Every one of those improvements is effected by the labor and cost of other people and the taxpayers. To not one of those improvements does the land monopolist, as a land monopolist, contribute, and yet by every one of them the value of his land is enhanced. He renders no service to the community, he contributes nothing to the general welfare, he contributes nothing to the process from which his own enrichment is derived."

Winston Churchill

The only people that rent are minorities, people in their early 20s, and liberals in big cities. All people I don't like. Fuck em.

The landlord paid the cost of constructing the house to begin with.

He only does this so he can rent it out.

No rent = no houses are built to begin with.

Also
>what is maintenance costs

Houses are expensive as fuck to maintain.

This sounds fun until you realize that buying the right house is a HUGE problem, especially in a market where "real estate" flipping is something everyone with a bit of side cash is doing.

If you don't know the right people, or have the right tools, you pay out the ass.

Furthermore, you can get shit tenants which fuck your shit up.

I don't own any property, but I know people who do. I have also flipped cars, and realized that when I do the math on my $2000 profit, I am making $4 an hour.

Take now... some hard-headed business man, who has no theories, but knows how to make money. Say to him: "Here is a little village; in ten years it will be a great city—in ten years the railroad will have taken the place of the stage coach, the electric light of the candle; it will abound with all the machinery and improvements that so enormously multiply the effective power of labor. Will in ten years, interest be any higher?" He will tell you, "No!" "Will the wages of the common labor be any higher...?" He will tell you, "No the wages of common labor will not be any higher..." "What, then, will be higher?" "Rent, the value of land. Go, get yourself a piece of ground, and hold possession." And if, under such circumstances, you take his advice, you need do nothing more. You may sit down and smoke your pipe; you may lie around like the lazzaroni of Naples or the leperos of Mexico; you may go up in a balloon or down a hole in the ground; and without doing one stroke of work, without adding one iota of wealth to the community, in ten years you will be rich! In the new city you may have a luxurious mansion, but among its public buildings will be an almshouse.

Most landlords do not build houses. They buy houses that have already been built which artificially drives up the cost of homes making them too much for people to afford.

One of the major reasons why people aren't starting families and having children is because they cannot afford a house and don't want to raise children in an apartment.

We should ban rental homes and ban foreigners from buying homes in America. Why should I have to compete for a home in my own country with a fucking foreigner.

ALL TAXES SHOULD BE REMOVED EXCEPT FOR A SINGLE TAX ON LAND

Let's say we have two identical lots. On mine i build a fabulous mansion, while the nextdoor neighbor has a decrepit crackhouse. Why on Earth should my tax burden be higher than his? I added value to the community..... i should not be penalized for this.

>paved roads
buy a 4x4 truck
>garbage service

>water
pretty sure it falls from the sky for free

Land owners are scum. They get in to the market, vote for local politicians to enact tough zoning regulations so that the supply of real estate is kept artificially low, then reap the profits over the next few decades from the sky high rents and property values. So many of the cities with ridiculously high cost of living are that way because the existing landowners use their influence to prevent additional housing being built.

>Most landlords do not build houses.
Doesn't matter. Them wanting to buy houses creates an incentive to build houses, which other people will do for profit.

The real menace to society are real estate investment companies that buy buildings down town and convert them into "managed communities" . They "Tastefully update" them by sticking up a bunch of tacky wall hangers like pic related and putting a ping pong table in the lobby to appease dumb millennial yuppies and suddenly they can double rent.

HoAs follow the same general trend and should be made illegal.

Most of these places have full time staff that patrol the complex to make sure "tenants needs are being met" (no one's letting their friends or gifriend live with them off lease). And are usually about 60% occupied at Max due to the exorbidant rents. Walk by any "managed luxury community" high rise at night and notice the lights are off in half the building.
