Don't the major financial institutions have accounting service?

Wouldn't they have a vested interest in making sure barriers to entry remain high?

>Accountants—specifically accounting clerks and bookkeepers—appeared at No. 1 in a 2015 PwC study of which jobs are most at risk from automation in the next 20 years. The rationale: Computer learning systems or robotics will be able to perform simple and routine tasks faster and more accurately. Accountants were just ahead of checkout operators and cashiers, office administration staff, and financial and insurance administration workers on that list.

>"What you have in our industry is a big spectrum that is really dealing with transaction recording. There is no question that that will become more and more automated in a very short period of time," said Dwayne Bragonier, CITP, a chartered professional accountant and founder of BAI Bragonier & Associates Inc. "A big chunk of the manpower required to record a transaction or to accumulate transactions into an aggregate will, of course, be automated."

CPA here in Big 4 tax. I'm not worried about automation replacing my job in 20 years. You guys think accounting is just basic journal entries. It's far from that.

How good do you have to be to get into forensic accounting?

>> No.14051690

>>14051665
I don't really know anything about forensic accounting. I'd probably recommend taking an elective forensic accounting class. I'm sure you could get into it if you'd like to.

You don't have to be a genius to be an accountant. You just have to be dedicated. And be prepared for no one to understand what you really do.

How does one get one's head around the "credits increase this bullshit in this case but decrease it in this case, and vice versa with debits." That shit was really kind of annoying.

It becomes second nature pretty quickly.

>> No.14052014

>>14051855
It's all based on asset vs. liability/equity accounts. A debit will always increase an asset account and decrease a liability account. Vice versa for credits. It gets tricky for PnL accounts, but just remember a credit increases income and a debit decreases it and you'll be fine.

Yes. It is a great profession and very rewarding for those who are willing to work hard.
