The question is how long are you willing to hold? Do you want something you can forget about for 3-5 years? 10? More? If you have a shorter time span in mind, you probably want to look into trading (vs investing)

LINK is a good hold for 3+ years. But only BTC and ETH are guaranteed big runs - for other alts it depends heavily on whether their tech works, and more importantly their performance in the market, i.e. are they gaining users and/or partnerships.

Those that do will be in for a big boost, possibly more % than either BTC or ETH. To find out which you need to DYOR.

Hey bud, the best investment lesson you can learn at this time in your life is to not chase moonshot returns. $1000 is a good bit of money, but you’re not going to live off of investing just this $1000.

Take it and put it toward schooling, honestly toward trade school. Get yourself certified and on the job, have benefits and begin saving.

First begin simply saving your money. From 0 to 10k net savings, put 10% of every dollar saved into short term treasury bills. Every month or so buy a 12 week treasury bond. The rates are low, but they’re better than a savings bond. Once you reach the point where you have 3-5k in Tbills, begin reinvesting the principle, but setting aside the profit from each bond into a separate investment account. It won’t be much, but it’s a consistent weekly source of additional income for investment.

Start adding to this base investment income per pay period, but now 30% of each dollar saved. Split it reasonably between stock ETFs and bonds. Dollar cost average into the ETFs and ladder into 1 through 6 year treasury bonds. Wouldn’t hurt to have 5ish % in Precious Metals.

Only once you have this base do you fuck with risking money you can’t afford to.

You are going to get a ton of bad advice on Biz, but I will try and give you something to run with.

I actually started off in crypto in a similar situation to you back in early 2017. I was given some money from my company to relocate, and I ultimately took it all and invested it into crypto. That said, it was a great decision, and I would have to say it's a great play for you as well considering the market just tanking and looking primed to rebound.

I've learned a lot through my time in crypto. With the amount you are investing I would take a risk tolerant approach, and ultimately invest heavy in something you really believe in. If you do things right, you can compound gains on top of one another, and really turn that 1K into a lot of money quickly, assuming the market goes full bull again. If I were to recommend one project to start with, and hold long term, it would be Holochain. I know quite a bit about the industry, and have really studied almost every project in the market, and holochain stands out above anything else right now. Obviously, always DYOR, but this would be the strategy/coin I would recommend you take/invest in. Best of luck!
