The only reason it's current value is dictated by BTC is because it's pure speculation right now. Once the actual use cases are up and running a value reflective of the collateral for contracts is a requirement, that's what the price theoretically will be based off of.

I don't think a tokens price will be dictated by BTC's price much longer. You are already seeing tokens outperform BTC, and also there are more fiat on ramps. I think regulation is becoming more clear in some places, which is one of the main factors that moves the whole market.
