Only other reason is MAYBE we get something bullish from Tr*mp. But I don't think he's going to back down, and I don'tthink the market believes all the bull tweets anymore. OR maybe we get a sudden "you win!" from mexico or china?

I don't know what people's net worth is.
I am an outlier for my age in terms of net worth or earnings.
These days the only people who I could even guess how they're doing would be mostly engineers (people I work with or went to college with), most are positive networth but don't own houses (rent mostly, or live with parents).
The people I went to HS with live in other states, I have no idea how they're doing.
if you want more specific info you have to ask more specific questions, or post more tied-up MILFs
you can look up statistics on earnings and debt by age group you know...

if you want doom and gloom anecdotes you can go ask on /pol/ or /r9k/, you might get more response. you can search the /biz/ or /pol/ archives if you want to read stories... ( with unreliable narrator)

most of the NEETs here are shy to give actual details, from what I gather most of the posters here aren't in significant debt but also don't have significant earnings or net worth.

an anecdote I can give is a friend who I work with who is 30, has some 5-figure student loan debt, and only pays the minimum. Spends all his extra money on video game BS for him and his GF (she's a nice person, but kind of lame and unattractive IMO). He makes a little more than I make, could have paid those loans off by now. sad.

https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/03/tech/tech-antitrust-house-probe/index.html

interesting legislative vs executive turf war going on

also very interesting at how the US is front-running any FUD China can throw: China can put all these companies on 'a list' tonight and it won't matter, Trump already blew 5% off their market caps. Very interesting.

>The things he and Jay Gould did fifty-odd years ago could not be done today, and never should have been done. But then, neither could J.P. Morgan and E.H. Harriman, who were of a different type, do some of the things that nobody dreamed of reproaching them for doing when they did them a few years ago. The methods of high finance have undergone salutary changes and there are more laws and restrictions designed to protect the public. And still the public loses money as easily as ever, because, though methods change and laws multiply and predatory wealth is curbed, the sucker is still the sucker. He is protected against everybody — except himself; and against everything — except the delusion of easy money.

Because you don't look at the basic metrics for companies like that. One of the key metrics I use is distributable cash flow, DCF. A lot of the high-yielder's have those yields because they are vehicles to expand with tax advantages. The only thing they have to do is pay out 90% of their earnings as distributions. Hence the DCF metric. How much money does the company have rotating through it, payable to me.

It typically works like this:

-Parents work 1, maybe 2 jobs to make ends meet
-Older kids might also work
-No real time to prep meals, so they eat cheap garbage instead of cooking vegetables
-Might live in poverty stricken area/food desert

It's most likely the terrible diet and lack of exercise

the rulers of the kingdoms (and I do mean kingdoms, think super-governmental megacorps with CEO-Kings who rule via the divine right of efficient allocation of capital) of the future will all be trannies. Trannies have big brains. I know this because being trans is just a symptom of information-overload, brought on by extreme exposure to the internet. Do you know any transgenders who don't use the internet a lot and watch a lot of anime? Didn't think so. What a lot of people don't realize is that this isn't a bad reaction to stimulus, it's a preemptive survival strategy and adaptation to the coming age of technocapital. MtF transgenders have statistically significantly higher IQ than other population, and their immense rates of suicide self-select for the most ruthless and psychopathic among them. Also they'll all be hapas.

nah
I mean I like your free thinking, but let me bounce one off of you:

Just because current trannies skew towards higher intelligence doesn't mean that all intelligent people are susceptible to it, or that those with higher intelligence (on the upper end of the spectrum) are most susceptible to it.

There are plenty of intelligent people who consume just as much media who aren't trans. So I think you're stretching too much, it's some form of a selection fallacy but I forget the exact name of this form.

The highest CEO-kings will still at least appear more neuro-typical and 'normal' and 'adjusted', despite their behind-closed-doors behaviors (some psychos, of course).

I think the tranny fad still hasn't topped out yet but it's only got (at most) 5-10 more years of run up before the tranny bubble pops.
We'll see what new brands of body-modification and gene-mods are available then, but basically transgenderism as it exists now is already on the clock.
Once science really opens up body modification tier-II and tier-III, they will be doing different stuff.

but the upper-upper class will still be outwardly 'normal' in appearance.

also this part doesn't really make sense
as you said the suicide rate is so much higher, and trannies don't tend to pass on their genes, which is what a 'survival strategy' means. So being a tranny is very much anti-survival, it's an adaptation into corruption and death.
Suicide self-selection doesn't work when the surviving trannies DON"T BREED, they just die

you aren't a tranny hapa by chance? (just making sure :^) )

I like that you're coming up with interesting theories, but I hope you don't mind me playing devils advocate:
sure there are plenty of trannies in tech, but they aren't the leaders now and don't look to be the leaders. These people are hanging on for dear life, to try and stay around in public life going through all the hormonal and physical things they have to go through. The future won't change that. Non-trannies will have more time, clearer minds, etc. etc.
And they won't be dumber, there will always be more highly intelligent non-trans than trans.
I don't think hapas have any advantage over all-white or all-asians, I don't see them being exclusive leaders of anything (unless they are majority of future population, in which case sure, they can be the majority of leaders).
I don't think the 'trannies not having kids thing' will be solved any time soon (meaning, no evolutionary changes for a long time, genetic modif will be happening before that)

>>13990008
nice
but if I theorize about the future, we were discussing the future owners of the tech megacorps.
we probably won't see any small self-started stuff anymore that doesn't get bought out or merged in some way.
So some little nerd like Zuccy becoming the head of a future Facebook or Amazon seems slim; they leaders of the future megacorps will probably be genetically modified or at least analyzed for genetic strength, then trained and raised to rule. The nerds will 'stay in their lane' as it were.

Look you have a low account, you can recover by contributing regularly and playing safe plays. If you really wanna take some risk into that last $200 though, what you could do is write a credit bull spread on spy for 1 month out. Write 1 of these spreads every monday. On the 2nd week of the spread's life, buy it back no matter what. So you'll have like, a bunch of spreads revolving around at the same time. You'll either lose the $200 slowly over time, or gain it all back fairly quickly than anything else you can do besides high-gamble weeklies.

this market is absolutely fucking crazy, and i'm not talking about just cloud stocks that are trading at their expected earnings in 30 years

i'm talking about normal companies, like KHC, PG, and MMM that have abnormally bloated P/E ratios because people have been buying them up for their dividend, while their growth far lags behind their valuation

look at fucking Lamb Weston - they literally make frozen potatoes yet they are trading at the same P/E ratio as GOOGLE.

It's their job to ALWAYS SAY that they're being 'data dependent'
they're never going to tell you that they're running on emotion.

but then they also get to chose what data they look at and how.

so at the end of the day, they're going to do what they're going to do, and they'll bring data to back up that decision. Then they can pretend to be super math-smart big professional boys. But the 'data' is whatever they want it to be, that is how ECONOMICS HAS ALWAYS AND WILL ALWAYS WORK

you'll be fine, I'm just adding emphasis so that you understand that 'data dependence' is meme, it's a buzzword.

not just with the fed: in all realms. data is what you make it. control the information, don't let others control your information.

if you go hard short, don't do it because you don't understand the fact that the fed says 'data dependent' with a small wink and nudge. Not a huge wink and nudge, understand, they still have some bounds on possible behaviors, but they aren't robotic.

I hope I explain it in a way that can be understood clearly..

Unironically yes.

Declining return on energy investment and troglodyte-tier democracy decision making means we could be back to a medieval tech level in 200 years.

Disgusting. It has that sort of long cab short bed thing Chevy tried with the Avalanche.

Oooooohhhh... So this "wall"
You set up a bunch of limit orders, then take them down one after another, making it look like the buy volume and price are dropping dramatically?

Then for some reason the algo (bowl robot?) starts dumping shares? Algos panic sell and are manipulated that easily?

>Sold 40% of my VTSMX so I can buy VTI when when everything's so wrecked Trump can't fuck it up anymore
Maybe I'll buy into VTSAX instead. I don't know, I think Schwab doesn't do transaction fees for these, but the whole restricted trading thing, where you gotta get an order in before 3 and wait til the next day, it'd a pain in the ass. But also, kind of a mixed blessing I guess.

I'm also 30, but have only been actively trading for less than a year. I've racked up some substantial losses...

And some big bags that don't become losses if I don't sell. R-right?
;_;

You're not a cool teen girl, are you?

I'm also considering looking at COLM. The brand seemed to be quite popular back in the day when I was in college (5 years or so back). I'm pretty isolated from fashion trends now.

I'm pretty sure VTSAX is not one of the commission-free funds on Charles Schwab. I'm going off memory, as was looking at it a while back. Unless you're dead-set on buying a total-market index fund, you probably want to go with SWPPX. If you really want VTSAX, you might just want to open a Vanguard account for it.

The fact that you call him by his full name, makes me think you're not that close with Chuck, and maybe not that knowledgable...

You might be right though. When I sold VTSMX, I believe didn't show any transaction fees. I wish their were more options like that, but for the big "set it and forget it" investments, it doesn't matter too much.

If there were funds I could trade like ETFs though... god, are there inverse mutual funds? I could be into that right now... but no, it's too risky in a world where trump can end the trade war with a tweet.

Mr. Schwab and I do business together, but we prefer to keep it professional.

I logged in and started an order for $3,000 of VTSAX and it listed a $49.95 transaction fee.

What?! That’s not small, I thought it’d be a 4.95 “who cares” fee.

Guess I’m going VTI in the future. Sad. Really enjoyed stacking it up.
