Did BCC failure cause normies to panic sell their crypto?

I havent done any research, would like to find an indepth article. Just guessing, seems like it was the other way. Bitcoin growth upward stopped, so Bitconnect was like, we arent going to get anymore money, cashouts in BTC will just start draining our balances as they artificially kept BCC price high. So they just left once it was over. Like how Madoff failed during/after the crash. Big drops down or stopped momentum can shutter fake crypto businesses.
