well since both of those pools can drop insane amount of hash from btc to bch if it's ever in their interest this shouldn't be surprising. which is why i always say more than one pow chain of the same family is retarded.

anyone who claimed bch was secure was an imbecile of the same proportions as lukejr in core. btc is the only trustless permissionless secure chain to date. but bch is basically a testnet and very useful in this capacity that is why the status quo is maintained.

so like whatever i'm ready to cut them some slack.

It's not an attack, though. I use the network daily and I don't feel attacked. Some miners had a lot of hashpower and they created blocks. This is how bitcoin works.

>> No.13817115

Miners (BTC.top, others?) decided to prevent the appropriation of segwit coins for which keys had been exposed in the BTC chain.

A smaller miner tried to collect all those coins.

Some person (either independently or in coordination with the miner) exploited a bug in Bitcoin ABC which prevented miners running Bitcoin ABC from creating new blocks.

The Bitcoin ABC team released a patch.

Miners upgraded and BTC.top proceeded with the plan.

An unknown miner mined a block appropriating many segwit coins.

Prohashing mined a block on top of the unknown miner.

BTC.top orphaned the two blocks.

Prohashing team complained.

Easy enough, it got up to 4K on some exchanges at the peak of 2017 and I saw more profit potential in buying for a few hundred to have multiple coins versus part of a bitcoin. Now, I also like Rogers take on privacy and doing what you want with your money as you see fit.

I will shill no more. The bottom line is that any crypto based on competition, like racing to mine a block, must allow history to be re-written or it will constantly fork. This goes against the ideals everyone claims to believe in. The only way to create a crypto that is actually immutable is with a distributed agreement protocol. This type of network will not make forward progress until we agree on the next state, so reorgs don't have to exist.

It’s a sedgewit vulnerability that started with core, before the fork. I’d i understand it correctly, it’s with BCH because it was with core at one time.

Not sure what the problem is though. The patch went through and the coins went to their intended recipients. After binance and the tether debacle, we should all be so luck my to come out like the victims of this ‘attack’ did.

There's not necessarily proof as I guess you technically need to survey the miners and ascertain as to whether they are telling the truth. Shadders mentioned last night in a livestream that ay any moment significant hashpower can be deployed from both the sidelines and the BTC chain. Calvin and Craig both mine BTC and convert it to SV, and any other miner should be looking at the fees coming through with big blocks and wanting to get a piece of that. the recent 2GB blocks on test net had 28bsv in fees in addition to the 12.5 block reward. 28 additional bitcoin as reward is a significant profit signal, especially as to generate that 28 bsv there needs to be some serious use of the chain too which will come with DRIVE, kronoverse, tokenized, dir, bitstagram and whoever else is looking to jump in the platform that scales.
