The communism in bulgaria was not as destructive as it was in other places, mostly because we are by nature lazy and unambitious people (when not personally threatened) who rarely express self righteousness. Kind of like LOTR hobbits.
After it ended our working class was thoroughly trashed by the combined efforts of corruption, exposure to the much more economically developed west, brain drain and the same qualities we had before.
However, thanks to some austere policies we seem to be recovering a bit. Now if only the west kicks back all young bulgarians to their country, we might survive another generation as a nation.

For some reason most news articles represent Bulgaria as the BTC owner. The housing market (in the capital) is pretty retarded when you consider our available money. The rest of the country is in much better state but then you need to find work somehow.
Which is why I am looking into buying empty piece of land 20 km outside and build a new house there with workers from the province.

Balkancar was one a top 3 manufacturer of forklifts in the world. Communist leaders loved to brag about it as a testament of communist productivity.
In reality, Russia was giving Bulgaria steel for free, which drove the price of a forklift below the market price for the metal it was made of. Those forklifts were absolute shit but Japan mass-bought them in order to melt them and use the materials for something useful.

> seem to be so enraged by history
Because you praised the people who put my grandparents in gulags and killed thousands out of pure spite. You called their rule "better" despite the lack of political mass murder and tons of opportunities today. And when it comes to family I get easily triggered.

>good larp for the 80k and stuff. literally nobody makes that much
Literally be a software dev (good one) for 5 years, you should be senior level at that point. Then get a team lead / program manager position at:
> Luxoft
> Epam
> Leanplum
> VMWare
> One of the 20+ blockchain startups in Sofia
My closest circle of friends are mostly entrepreneurs, but those who wagecuck at the companies I listed are still making great bank.
P.S. I also know ONE person who makes a great salary at Experian, but he himself says that his colleagues are poor so idk I guess you need to negotiate better there.

>I legit don't know a person in tech making less than $80,000/yr and netting $70,000 of it though. Official salaries are low because everyone outside of tech is evading taxes, but that doesn't stop people from complaining
This has to be a fucking larp
I worked in Sofia as a foreigner and was told I was paid more than almost anyone else (my salary was 1300 EUR)

All the tech jobs I saw advertised had like a max salary of 2500€, so I have no clue where you get your numbers. Also, already on my salary I had to give up like 20% for social security contributions + tax, so your net numbers have to be way off

Anyway, for all of you Bulgarians that want a well paid and easy job (not fun though) you can just learn any of the Scandinavian languages and you can get 1000-2000 € net for simple call center work

Well yes, but of you do go to Uni you can learn it there and be fluent within 1-2 years. It pays better than 90% of other jobs in BG

Sorry bro, you got ripped off. Unless you worked at a call center, 1300 EUR sounds about right.
80k is 90th percentile, but 1300 EUR is pretty low. It was standard 5 years ago, salaries have tripled since then.

>> No.13816873

>>13815980
Is this really true? How can 90th percentile be higher than in Western Europe lmao?

Do you have any legit source or job posting showing 80k for devs? If you can actually make 70k net in Sofia I'm about to switch field and country. You can live like a god on that amount

it's deluded
i have some very well paid friends who hit that checkpoint, but they're literally unicorns

more like 99.3 percentile, lol

with 2k euro in Sofia you are a king if single, or a couple without a kid (even if the chick nets only 800euro for a total of 2.8k)

i bought my own apartment before the real estate inflation, keep 25k in crypto and have 50k in stocks. 1.2k euro per month has me saving 25% without any problem and i socialize a lot

recently its full of hipster bullshit restaurants tho and eating out has gotten quite expensive

not sure if srs about the delusion part but literally ALL of my FMI colleagues who studied alongside me 2008-2012 are netting 70k+. Literally no exceptions, even the chicks who took 2 years of maternity leave.

Show some data on that or you are LARPing. Why would a dev in Sofia make more than a dev in Stockholm or Berlin?

>data
Yeah, my paycheck information can totally go public, good idea.
I've made 70k EUR in Munich, not sure about Berlin salaries but 70k EUR was 90k USD when I worked there. There's also more taxes to be paid by the employer on top of that there, so Bulgaria is still cheaper imho.
Krauts are the laziest mofos in the world, there's no reason a Bulgarian should make less unless he looked at his shoes during the interview saying "uhm... I'll take whatever you're paying the rest of them". Which most of them do for whatever reason. Even programmer girls act more alpha than programmer guys in Sofia, I've interviewed a lot of them.
...
I literally told you the companies that pay that much (a few posts above). One of them pays double btw, learning which is up to you but Google is your friend.

Ok I will do some research anon, but that is seriously fucking amazing. Literally better salaries than the US or Switzerland considering purchasing power and how much you can save. Fuck who knew Bulgaria was the place to be if you wanna get rich

Hey anon! I think you are the same anon who told me how to start with programming a few months back. I actually started and i am almost done with my prog. basics at softuni with C# (exam is in june). I am yet to watch the pluralsight vids tho, as I have been busy irl and recently got who hooked on Linux and i am dedicating a lot of time to learning it lol. I hope you are doing fine, my friend:)
