I’m a cop in a large metro area of the country. Job is ok. Good pay and greater benefits, fun and interesting most of the time. I’m in my late 20s with a 200k+ stack of Link so I’m just hoping it lets me retire early. If it doesn’t I’d probably only like to stick around for another 10-15 before going another path, maybe open up a business. Shit that Link stack is worth enough to already get me a jump on that but I like what I do while I’m young so I’m just riding it out. No wife or kids either (hopefully someday) so options are open for what happens if Link truly moons

I was originally thinking about CS but after researching about it for the past month and reading the posts here I'm not sure what to choose. Math maybe? Economics? Does a math major and econ minor sound good? Join the Canadian Armed Forces and do a trade? Btw the Canadian Armed Forces trade thing probably wouldn't be preferable since it's pretty hard to get into the CAF and even harer to get into a specific trade. I majored in Math, the people telling you not to do CS are completely off-base. 80% of jobs you can get with a Math degree are CS jobs anyway and economics has a huge computational component to it at many modern jobs.

Also people on this board are retardedly beholden to the idea that your major locks you into a specific type of job, I work with CS graduates where their first job out of college was as consultants, traders, and investment bankers.

Also know people who got CS degrees and completed enough of the requirements to apply for med school programs when they graduated.

The reason people on this board fail is because they're borderline(and sometimes just full on) autistic.

Sup fren. I’m quite the opposite. Without saying which one exactly, though you’ll probably figure it out, my state is in pure pension turmoil. One of the worst states in terms of liquidity amongst cities, counties, and the state itself. I started about 4 years ago and my entity went from level 1 to level 2 about 4-5 before I got on, which in turn means anyone hired at my work goes from a full pension at 30 years to working til you’re in your mid 60’s (regardless of time on the job) it’s absolutely kiked and probably the worst part of this job and one of the worst parts of this state. The boomers completely took advantage of the system and leveraged the fuck out of it and are making the younger gens pay through ridiculous pension changes and increased taxes everywhere. Hence why I’ll only be able to stomach this for another decade or so. I’m about 50/50 confident they’ll still have money for me if I go the distance, but I’m not giving them 40+ years for a chance at 80% of my pay. If you want math and economics, with no life studying go the actuarial route. Jobs are pretty comfy office gigs and the pay is really good; but you have to be good at studying.

Geranlly sort of professional field with licensing is good; i.e doctor, appraiser, actuary, lawyer, etc. Sales is good and will always be good, but you need to have a good personality for it (which, being a NEET, is highly unlikely)

Don't get me wrong, tech is great and will continue to be great, but you need to be top 10, or ideally top 1% to really make it. Unlike professional jobs that have licenses as a form of barrier to entry, there are zero such barriers in tech. That poses a problem when you're competing with the whole world.

Salaried logistics industrial engineering supervisor here. My value in the company is based on ROI activities.

My job is pretty sweet, and I have a ton of free time to make my job easier with VBA and macros; brain-dead stuff. Ironically, I was deep into crypto before I got this job, and the fundamentals of DLT helped me understand enjoy my role in a data reconciliatior function. I can work remotely, and srsly I could keep doing it even after I make it, as much of it mimics the production indices of proof of work mining- and my profitability is granted as a bonus every year. It's 2 hours of "real" work to me 5 days a week.

middle manager in a production facility making 47k a year. no room for upward mobility, company racing to the bottom, but I can do my job in my sleep. the work is great, my employees are awful. they're donkeys and I need a team of thoroughbreds, but that will never happen. on average i work 14 hours a day.

I hope to land a career as an operations manager of some sort and actually vertically integrate into a company instead of just yell orders. I was never trained to be a leader, only a boss, so leadership training has been my big thing lately. sadly none of my employees are interested in being led, only pushed and pulled.

funny thing is we all expected to go out of business for good but after being bought out by a huge corporation last year there might be a way for me to ride this shit indefinitely, but I really need more than 47k a year to hit my goals in life.
