If you live in an urban or semi-urban area, just get a bicycle and take the bus or use an uber when you need to.

costs literally $700 per year
>repairs
oil changes/other repairs cost $200-$300 every 6 months
>gas
if you don't have a dumbass SUV or truck gas is literally $30 every 2-3 weeks
>parking
if you choose a good living situation parking is free
>deflationary asset
doesn't matter if you don't sell it

>> No.13711067

It depends. With a car you're probably spending under $1000 on gas annually for your commute if it's 10-12 miles away. If you need to Lyft or Uber to work every day that could be as much as two or three times that much ($8-10 one way), and that's only assuming you ONLY go to work. Consider that a car can travel about 25 miles per gallon of gas and then compare it to the prices of Lyft or Uber and let that help you make your decision on whether a car is for you or not. If you work five days a week and do any amount of traveling outside of that for hanging out with frens and so on even infrequently, I would say a car is more or less a necessity.

>"anon can you pick me up?"
>"sure, I'll call a lyft"

All those expenses you mentioned add up to roughly $2000 a year.

Let's say your home is in an urban area close to your work so you can bike there.

If the average uber-lyft ride is $20, in order to have the same price as the other expenses you need to take $2000/$20=100 lyft rides a year. There are 12*4=48 weekends every year, so this corresponds to going out somewhere/ picking someone up twice every weekend.

This also assumes none of your friends have cars, and it doesn't even take into account the price of the car itself and effort is buying/ selling it.

If you drive more often than twice a week and have a much more active social life than me and value the sense of freedom, than fine. But for someone who likes to stay in and read most weekends? Yes, a car is definitely a meme.

Chekt.

And no it is not. Having a car opens up access to cheaper housing away from transit lines. San Francisco is so expensive it's impossible to drive anywhere and everyone has to compete for housing right next to transit.

I'm sure it varies for people but for me there is no need at all. Anywhere in the city is biking distance and even if I had a car I would still use the bike instead because there are too many advantages like fun, health, environmental footprint and parking difficulties. And even if I do absolutely need a car for something, I can just rent one.

Closest major city - 70 km.
regional city - 35 km
Buses two times a day, 98% of passengers are school kids going in and out of school and time table is adjusted to their schools.
If you work in company in regional city and have coworker living in your walking distance, you can share one car for a ride to work.
Now, there is not other reason to not own a car here.
You either buy one and use it, or else you drank yourself everyday and live off benefits.
Car is a must.
When it comes to the prices, never buy a new one. Once you leave car salon, you just lost 20+%.
Major city people can live without a car. I lived in one for 4 years and public transportation gets anywhere you want.
You are a meme for not understanding basics of living a life.
Leave your shelter once, you hermit.

Checked. It depends on the circumstances. If you close to your work and/or public transportation is great in your country, then it's a bit of a meme. Espeically if you live in an urban area where most things you need to get to are somewhat close. Another thing to consider is your income/net worth. If you're making 175k/year then it's no big deal to own a car even though you really don't need it. If you're making 30k/year then a car is a significant investment/liability.

Totally a meme.

Pro's:
- you can use the car even if it's raining/snowing
- you may have 3-4 people with you in the car
And that's that.
Gas, tolls, maintenance, etc, plus the highest mortality (if compared to public services) because even niggers and braindamaged faggots wander around in their cars.

Getting a van is a different story. Same pro's as car, yet:
- you can build your home into it
- yes, you can walk inside
- yes, if you're traveling you can just park somewhere and take a nap
- yes, if you fancy some booze, you can just park somewhere and sleep until your alcohol levels get back to legal levelsì+

very few women will take you seriously if you can't even move around without the help of someone else
can you pull tinder tail regardless? sure. you could even manage a meaningful relationship. but you're just adding one extra obstacle between you and happiness, and for no legitimate reason (if spending $2k/year is an issue, you have a bigger problem to take care of first, your earning power)

being a man has nothing to do with women standards, and it's telling you get that from my post. stop thinking so much about what women think anon. your generation has been brainwashed into renouncing masculinity, whether "pro" system (lgbt) or "anti" system (mgtow), and there's no happy ending for either side of that choice
you should strive to be a man because it's going to make you feel great about yourself, not to attract girls. the latter comes naturally as a result of the former
