All I know about Bitmex is that if you dont know exactly what you are doing there is a 100% probability you will lose everything. Assuming you arent bait, try convert the XBT back to BTC and go use a normal exchange.

Dude, just open a single contract...
this has to be bait tho, like you literally depo a bitcoin but you didn't even click the button to create a contract? It explains it to you there, let alone there's plenty of reading material included in the site.

If you seriously can't make the connection between what I wrote and your question, you really should cool your jets and hold off on the bitmex for a while

>> No.13599743

>>13599717
Anyway, I assume you didn't actually mean exchanging XBTUSD contracts for XBT, but posting your 1 XBT as margin to buy the contracts. You seriously need to get this 100% straight in your head before you do anything

>> No.13599804

>>13599678
XBT is the same as BTC basically. If you want to use 0.1btc to trade, that is about $670. If you want to go long 10x, then you have to put $6700. 100x is $67000. You can see below the boxes, the "order value" or something.

Go mess around in testnet before you lose your bitcoin.

Btc = XBT (just a different ticker)
You're not really buying and selling but opening and closing contracts. You can open 10000 contracts of long XBTUSD perpetuals for example. These contracts have a value of $10000 tied to XBT. If XBT price goes up 10%, you will get $1000 worth of profit in XBT minus fees after closing the contracts. Suppose you have put up $2000 worth of XBT as a margin for these contracts, that's 5x leverage. If price of XBT falls 20% to around $5440 from $6800 it will liquidate you and you will loose your margin.

0.02 btc

when I buy contracts for 0.019 at 100x, it doesnt let me buy

Order could not be submitted: Executing at order price would lead to immediate liquidation

Testnet must have a big difference between market price and trigger price. Testnet is good only to get acquainted with interface. To learn opening/closing contracts just do small amounts on mainnet.
