LCI Earnings edition

Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

Point is I’m still -4.67% in a fuggin bull market because I chased after biotech memes, and thought I’d DCA down, and now the moneypit is on fire.

not saying it does it best, but I know silver is really useful metal in our times and theres so little silver on planet price would skyrocket if theres no manipulation from side of regulators, they need to keep it low for industries to use it cheaply. thats why silver rocks during financial fuckups, not because some jews are getting jewed and somehow metal quadruples in price but mainly because financial institutions can no longer maintain pricing they hold in peaceful times

listen I've been telling people here to buy DF for about a week now.
If you want to buy it, it definitely has some upside room to run.
Definitely don't go all in on it though, even 5% of your stack would be a really hefty portion

you know what I'm going to give you some other advice too
You can buy DF shares, and it's OK, but if you really want to enrich your life, you're going to want to buy some of their dairy products as well.
When you taste their ice cream, the smooth creaminess will really let you know that you're eating a product from the #1 dairy company in the world.

I just had some, exceptionally creamy and smooth texture. Delicious.

you can just buy an REIT ETF, or make your own 'basket' of REITs and yield-generators

high yield = high risk that they cut the payout or have to sell profit generating assets.

diversification is going to really help with REITs and high-dividend paying stocks.
individually they can be fickle, sometimes under-performing or outperforming. But if you buy a decent handful, you will generate solid, stable payouts.

HELP DAMMIT

So to set the scene, I'm 18 and I got no money. Tried my hand at the stock market. Got a brokerage account at "Charles Scwab" Aparently, I opened a MARGIN account and I was able to buy around 20,000 dollars worth of shares. I bought the following:

BABA: 50
BIDU: 50
IQ: 50
MCD: 7

So, technically speaking. I'm 20,000 in debt right now. The interest rate is almost 10% for a margin loan at Schwab. Is that per month? Per year? Or do I just pay that when I'm able to pay back the margin loan?

IDK guys i dont want to file for bankruptcy before i finish highschool but i also want to make sweet cash. Am I doing good? Am i retarded?

It's oversold but trending down in the long term

they haven't turned things around yet (not yet profitable and paying down their debt)

an investment in DF right now is JUST to make some short turn money, then sell when they're above 2.50 again. It's a quick 40% pump.

Your long term turnaround plays are things like KHC and NWL. They are oversold but much closer to becoming profitable again, those are stocks I buy cheap now because they'll increase in value perpetually and pay a decent dividend.

DF -> free money, but take your money and go with a decent profit.
They still have big old revenues vs. their market price, they have a lot of good brands, and they do make very good dairy products. But their balance sheet has issues.
It's a cheap 'hope for buyout play'

I'll reconsider tomorrow based on their earnings, they might be very surprisingly good
if their ER is terrible, it's not even shocking, won't hurt value too much. It's already been sold into the ground

Theres a difference between petty politics causing dips on single stocks (NKE, KDP,DKS, PFE, Gun stocks), and a broad market dip based on global trade policy. The former is free cheapies when people who in reality can't afford or dont buy a specific product to begin with call for a boycott and simply get more press than is warranted, the latter is a very serious red flag.

Okay kid... Listen up... I’m 32 years old, trade on margin and can explain how it works because I’m a mothafuckin’ engineer with the maths.

Take whatever percentage margin rate they show you and multiply it by the amount of money you borrowed.

Take that resulting number and divide it by 360.

Take that number and multiply it by the number of days you’ve been using that money.

Take that resulting number and divide it by $7.25,

And that’s how many hours you’ll need to work at McDonald’s (pre-tax) in order to pay back your margin loan.

You’re welcome.

You could win big (unlikely) or lose everything (unlikely). Most likely, the result will fall somewhere in the middle. In the long term, you're probably bound to lose. The vast majority of the people do not get a better return on their investments in the long run than the average return of the market. On margin, you very well may need to beat the market average in order to recoup the 10% interest. Suppose you go to bed now, with your position up less than 1%. You could wake up tomorrow and find that your position is suddenly down 2% in pre-market hours. How will you feel then? Will you wait it out until you break even again whenever that happens, if that ever happes. Your position may fluctuate down and up under your 0.2% here and 0.1% there, never even breaking your starting value, all the while accumulating interest. You're not going to feel happy if you have to hold for months praying that one day soon you're stocks will go up enough to recoup the cost of the loan.

I feel a sarcastic undertone in this post.
I don't know what to believe anymore.
I'm just going to give the brokers a call tomorrow and discuss it with them.

I've ended up with more confusion than i had from the start tfw.

You don't need our advice. You are a big boy now with a student badge and everything. I'm sure you've been taught critical thinking in America's stellar education system. Now go out there and do what you feel with money that isn't yours. Yolo.

Depends why it sank like cinder block. Quick check on the news reveals this bioshit is down because a competitor's drug for the same indicator just received FDA approval. That's not good. However, it depends if this bioshit has other stuff in the pipeline, how their own clinicals have gone for the drug that just got beaten to the punch and whether their drug could still be competitive if it receives its own approval. My guess is this will bounce some but it's going to be dicey calling the when and how much.

>>13543487

For oversold bounces, I usually feel much safer playing the ones that dropped fast and hard rather than the slow bleeders. I used to do these gambles more in the past. Not so much anymore. Only interested if I consider the drop to be a wild overreaction or completely bullshit non-reason for a panic sell.

To beat inflation, the rate just needs to be above the inflation rate, not necessarily increasing constantly.
