Even just 1% of any donation or total per stream
Or whatever
No streamer would care enough about 1%, like a fee for their service.. And for twitch it would accumilate to a really profitable amount.
So why not incorporate it in their business model ?

It's 2019. Of course Twitch gets a percentage of donations. Look up 'bits'

Sure but that isnt the same.
Just imagine every single donation. I think they'd make a thousand fold on what they get trough cheers etc.

No. That's kbubblez but thank you

Their "1% cut" is the streamer bringing in thousands of people onto their website. Let's say a big streamer makes $1000 a day. Why would Twitch want to take their $10 in exchange for bad PR? It's not worth it.

they already take like 50% of the subs.
why be greedy?

why does twitch not take a percentage of donations?
They can't enforce it if the donation is fiat.

All donations are done through third party companies (with the exception of bits). You only see them on stream because of apps that are tied to those accounts. Twitch is already churning out money with their bits, ads and subscriptions. Also, this way, Amazon doesn’t have to pay out for advertising space when they use their own mediums.

No their 1% cut is non existent! It could be on top of all this, and barely anyone'd care
Why be greedy? .. DO you know how businesses work? Besides, the point is that it doesn't look greedy at all.
ANd even if they come from 3rd parties then Twitch could nonetheless instill a filter and put it in terms and agreement

i don't understand whatyoum mean. ALso, is that webmd a fluke? are the cheers a sham?

Imagine not getting on the Twitch bandwagon. Easiest full time profession for a young person. You don't even have to be talented. If you can sperg out with the best of them it's easily a road to riches.

Ice Poseidon is banned from Twitch.

They can't. Donations doesn't go through twitch, it goes through paypal often via streamlabs.

This means there is no way that Twitch can get a cut off these third party donations. They could make it against the ToS to take donations or have donate buttons anywhere on their streams, but since this is the main source of income for most streamers, the entire platform would collapse as streamers protest or leave.

They introduced the Bits system to compete for donations instead, allowing streamer and viewer benefits if you buy bits instead of sending money through paypal.

They get a percentage of donations run over twitch own system (bits). Twitch (still) allows donations from external sources including bitcoin. Twitch also makes money on subs (50%) that are far more important than donations. They are working on giving people more incentive to use bits than money donations by giving them silly perks for the chat.
