January 2018, not this year.
BTC price then was ~4x higher as well. So the current price difference is in relative terms the same.

This is what you get if you adjust for the price.

Interesting
Now this is the type of content I want to see here. Seems like the Tether issue has definitely not stabilized yet.

Bitfinex withdrawals are supposedly taking a lot of time, but that shouldnt be a big problem.

holy shit man, you are right! i can't believe nobody thought of this!

ah biz. you will never make it.if there was any arbitrage oppurtunity without even you seeing that arbitrage bots would clear that in 1 second. you think they will let you arbitrage ? in biggest exchanges in crypto ? lmao
if no one does it. that means theres no arbitrage to make.

>> No.13497891

>>13497854
classic /biz/ arbitrage.

>>13497838
obviously it is a problem because it hasn't happened, but I'm confused as well. is bitfinex just not accepting crypto withdrawals at all now?
what other reason is there for the discrepancy? i doubt that people are running to the door faster than the bots can keep up, for example.

>> No.13497897

if you sell crypto for fiat at bitfinex you need at least 10k usd/eur/gbp if you want to withdraw. also its unclear if they will pay out at all given their current situation.

>> No.13497941

>>13497897
regardless of their fiat situation, can't people exchange btc for usdt on bitfinex and transfer the usdt out to accomplish the same goal?

t. someone who's never used bitfinex, hasn't followed the tether drama closely, and is also a huge dumbass

>> No.13497951

>>13497897
Buy BTC on Binance transfer it to Bitfinex and use the USD to buy some shitcoin that isn't inflated on Bitfinex then transfer the shitcoin to Binance and dump it for BTC. Repeat.

>> No.13497959

>>13497941
no, because usdt/shitcoin rate has changed in order to reflect the 350$ premium.

the only way to profit from this is to buy btc somewhere else, dump them on bitfinex and withdraw via wire, but i'm not sure why people arent doing this

>> No.13498036

>>13497959
oh ok right. Yes looking it up, their wire withdrawals seem really fucked right now. They also have high withdrawal fees, limiting arb opportunity, though this wouldn't explain the $350 difference.

>> No.13498115

>>13498036
an explanation for this could be that they're simply not allowed to currently process fiat withdrawals because of their fuckups

>> No.13498116

>> No.13498166

The price difference mess at ATH was because Bitfinex had withdrawal problems/Tether FUD back then as well/prices jumping up and down because of the bubble top. Price difference now is because of Tether FUD and Bitfinex withdrawal problems.
But why was there a round bump at the start of this year?

>> No.13498174

Btw, I remember in 2017 when a lot of people thought Bitfinex/Tether connection was bogus and that they are completely different entities. No one arguing that now.

>> No.13498341

Well, that example isn‘t a ratio, but a difference. You do a ratio with the help of a ‘/‘ of course.
