13475730 No.13475730 [Reply] [Original]

things are going to get much worse before they get better. tether has a gaping $850m hole in it and bitfinex users are running for the door at an alarming rate. finex is now trying to raise $1 BILLION from an IEO as a last desperate attempt to try and salvage this shitshow.

!!! THIS IS A HUGE FUCKING RED FLAG !!!

bitfinex has been a great big open gaping sore on the hairy dick of crypto for a long time. even though it will cause some pain and suffering in the short term, the powers that be have agreed that bitfinex and tether need to be PURGED so that crypto can have sustainable growth after its gone. all of these new stable coins and the bitfinex investigations etc didnt just spring up out of nowhere all at the same time for no reason.

i hope your affairs are in order. its time.

There's so much garbage from the perma-bears on this website.... given that, I've just converted my tether into fiat because I don't want take the risk.
But if everyone just dumps their tether, isn't that the end of it? Bitfinex as an exchange dies off, tether is gone and everyone goes about their business. Maybe a small dip in bitcoin... maybe??
Let me be clear, I think there's a huge dump coming, but this dump has nothing to do with tether. I am a bear and I don't think we've seen the bottom.

...

The reason I'm saying all this is because I'd like to see how this tether dump is going to do anything more than deatroy tether.

Don't know about all this Bitfinex crap. If it smells fishy then it probably means there's fish. This tether shit has always seemed sketchy to me.

What I do know is that I have an indicator that hasn't failed so far: my wife. She doesn't know shit about crypto, but every week or so I'll give her a view of the BTCUSD weekly chart, and one of the daily. She has been spot on EVERY TIME on the general direction the market would take.

>At 6000, she said it was going to drop.
>At the first bounce to 4200, she said it was going to drop.
>At 3100, she said it was going up.
>When we got to 4200 resistance, she said it was going up.

I showed her the weekly and daily charts a couple of days ago, and she said it was going down. I'm short based off of that.

This.

It was so insidious, most people didn't realize their exchanges were being flooded with digital IOU tokens that were minted by some tax haven and professional money laundering assholes operating out of the Caribbean.

The systemic risk to the entire Bitcoin market is not even knowable at this point.

The only way to secure myself is to use exchanges that have real fiat pairings.

I think Binance is going to implode because it relies so much on Tethers and they are operating in a very grey legal area with no banking partners for liquidity.

Binance have massive reserves of Tether.

Probably billions of dollars locked up in that shitcoin. When they try to recover the money from Bitfinex and get told to fuck off, they're going to take a massive loss.

You think that won't affect their solvency? You're dreaming, and giving them to much credit.

In fact, IMO, Binance is the second greatest systemic risk to the entire crypto economy after Tether.

This Chink and his unregulated, un-registered exchange launching ICO shitcoin scams and releasing its own securities, while having almost no proven financial reserves or banking partners, is a MASSIVE time bomb.

The absolute state of crypto "investors"... I hope you're not holding any shitcoins about now, because get your asshole ready for another 99% loss of value from current valuation.

To answer your question, when people flip back to USDT in their trading activities, you think they're actually assigned an actual USDT?

NOPE. They're trading a proprietary, digital representation of a Tether token within Binance's own digital ledger, which means Binance hold hundreds of millions of actual USDTs which they need to hold in reserve for customers requesting withdrawals.

You really need to learn how exchanges work before you undertake any activity in crypto. These are the only actual businesses making cash flows in crypot, as opposed to Chink shitcoins claiming partnerships with BMW, and then not generating a single dollar in revenue.

Binance has reported revenues of 200 million last year.

Having premiums like that on the second largest exchange at this point is one hell of a red flag.
It's a miracle the market isn't in a full blown panic mode.
If you weren't around during Mt.Gox days then let me tell you this is just like how it started. Premium started forming and at some point it was clear things were going tits up, but it was far too late to bail at that stage.
Greed is going to fuck so many people over if and when things collapses. Better to get out and wait things out on the sidelines rather than stay in the market and wish for an extra 20% or something.
If this situation pulls off a Gox 2.0 then no one really has any idea how low this market will dive. Might even reach triple digits.

All of you Binance fud posters are fucking retards. Not only do you not understand how exchanges work but you have no basic common sense. The fact that Binance wallet holds a shitload of Tether does not put the exchange at any risk. The risk would be if Binance DID NOT hold so much Tether, because that would mean that Binance was running a fractional reserve. If you hold 1 USDT in your Binance exchange wallet, Binance is on the hook for 1USDT, not 1 USD. So if USDT were to implode, so long as the amount of USDT Binance held in their wallet equals the amount of USDT traders hold in their exchange wallet, Binance is solvent. The USD value of Tether is of no impact on Binance's solvency. This retarded FUD is the equivalent of saying that Binance has massive BTC holdings in their exchange wallet, and if BTC falls in USD price, Binance will implode. The fact is, if you hold a coin in your Binance wallet, Binance owes you the coin, not the USD value of the coin, you retarded faggots.

In the last 24h 13.76% of BTC trade volume occurred on Bitfinex, assuming that Tether is 74% solvent I foresee the eventual banning of Tether from all other exchanges leading people to try to redeem them for BTC on Bitfinex in a bank run, this will lead to short term boosts in BTC as people will take it to cash out/store on a more reliable exchange, once the bank run stops the market will dive fast taking a 3.58% hit of today's prices, which will sustain for a while, then we will revert to the mean and slowly rise again in 8 months from now, leading us eventually into the 2020 bull market.
