Serious question, why does this board seem to favor crypto over the stock market. It seems to me that you can evaluate the long term value of a company and then compare that to the current market price to make highly accurate and predictable stock selections. With crypto you’re completely at the mercy of the sticker price and the whales dictate winners and losers. What is the rationale here?

Because most of this board is a bunch of children thinking their 10k or so in some shit coin will allow them to "make it". They are so fixated on all these massive spikes that they think "oh man, if I can just catch one more, I'll be set". But the reality is that we probably won't see anything as crazy again, at least in BTC. Some shit coins have potential, but that's a super high risk. Now I won't lie and say that the volatility doesn't lead to large gains, but you're a fool to try and day trade how rigged this shit is.

Most of them don't understand stocks, and so they avoid it and chalk it up to boomers. But Id rather go chasing big gains in stocks because at least there's some logic behind it all and you can make educated guess when trading options. And the crypto children will cling to their coins claiming "but it's a new market that hasn't found its ath" but the reality is nobody is quite sure how this shit is gonna shake out and its turned into a matter of "last one out get the lights"

Best answer is to hold and trade both.

Higher volatility, quicker short term gains/losses. It’s an infantile market with zero regulation that is running 24/7. In a world with everything gradually becoming digitized, id rather invest in crypto’s over boomer stocks.

I’m not talking about retirement necessarily. Sure the fluctuations in crypto make it appealing but it seems they work against you at least as often as they don’t and generally the value of the crypto isn’t tied to any real world utility making its value entirely speculative. Oh I understand it way better than the majority of chain link holders that populate this board. And if you learn to day trade it, you can probably make ok gains all things considered. But this isn't about the smart traders. This is about why this board is obsessed with crypto, and I gave you a solid reason. I personally just injected my own opinion on how I feel about crypto. I don't consider it a stable investment to wrap up a majority of your portfolio.

Sort of. But saying that they are at the mercy of the CEO is sort of putting stocks down for having someone at the helm of a company. That's not really a bad thing or a good thing. It's just a thing.

I don't really have a good point against the ATH thing though, you're right on that front. But I don't think your year gains are that limited to just shorting the market. There's a lot going on right now and I think a good investor can really play the political spectrum and upcoming technologies.

I'm pretty light in crypto right now, I'm busy chasing biotechs for the ultimate rush. But right now..
BTC: the only crypto I consider to be stable. Gives you the best of a long term gainer but if there is ever a bullrun, BTC is gonna reflect it.
ETH: imho this has the most potential to see a widespread adoption and go up separately of BTC. I think ETHs biggest problem is competing with BTC right now, as BTC is currently the standard. But I think it's worth holding long, arguably more than BTC if you don't mind the increased movement in pro.
BAT: this is more an investment in Brave than a crypto investment in my view. Advertisements are dead as fuck. I think if Brave can make it worth people's while to watch ads, then company's will flock to their platform. But the biggest problem moving forward isn't someone forking their browser (remember when everyone forked Firefox with quantum? Lmao), it's just getting that user base in the first place. For me, I don't mind watching ads if I get a cup of coffee or something a week (especially if it means I can support the websites I choose to) and I think it could be big. Frankly, I think there's a LOT of FUD around this coin for no reason other than the fact that people are upset they made a whole new coin for this rather than using their shit coin. I think this is a medium risk medium reward coin though, because it actually has a tangible use case.

Keep in mind i am longing these. Not day trading. Your mileage may vary

This isn't wrong, but Cryptocurrency has lower barriers to entry from my knowledge.

Anyone can go create a Coinbase account and buy a bag, and you could see it 2x in a day or a week. And it's very related to tech and the internet - let's face it, that's what we're all interested in here. That's much more exciting than buying some dying company's stock or some tech company that's run by some 70 year old dinosaur.

Bitcoin's entire concept is fucking awesome and novel. You just don't get that excitement with stocks.

Actually you can easily download Robinhood and just start trading options even with no fees. I feel your excitement thing though. That's why I invest almost always in biotechs because the thrill makes me feel alive. (expecting NBRV to double in price tomorrow)

>>13473590
Yeah BAT is gonna be an interesting thing to watch for sure. I can't believe so many people are sleeping on this coin. Movement on it has been pretty damn good too. It's imho the most novel of all coins and if they can pump the price up then I can see it being a buck a coin at least, eventually hitting a few.

That's a rather conservative assortment. BAT certainly has potential. It's on coinbase and a lot of people have no problem watching ads on YouTube and random internet services. They'd probably jump at the gun to make a few bucks a week from doing what they get paid nothing to do now. Link it to gift cards or gaming merchandise or something, and there will be adoption.

I had a small amount from shortly after the ICO in 2017 into early 2018. I made a tiny nothing-to-brag-about profit from it. Personally, I loathe ads and use ad blockers on everything.

>> No.13473789

More gains/volatility in crypto. Good luck
getting a 1000x in stocks but in 2017 there were MULTIPLE cryptos that got gains like that. Also if you held bitcoin for 10 years you got way MORE than 1000x gains. Literally over 10000x.

It's not necessarily "easier" than stocks since the tech is pretty hard to understand completely. Usually the people who hate crypto the most clearly have no idea how it even works lol. But also there's WAY more scams in crypto so it's basically wild west compared to stocks which are way safer to play with.

Nah, I'm terrible and just gamble away on biotech catalysts. The power of the stock market is that you can adapt your portfolio to your risk management. Want stable growth? Invest in etfs. Want stable earners? Dividends. Want access to the same level of volitity as crypto? Learn to trade options. Options are powerful because you can also minimize your losses real easy while maximizing your gains. But also super easy to piss away your money. Just start small. Don't dump thousands in you'll lose it all.
