13463680 No.13463680 [Reply] [Original]

I've been doing a lot of research on ETH and the price action ETH has had for the past 14 months. The descent from $1300 to sub $100's was brutal. I was arguing with some pleb on Tipestry about ETH being able to reach $500 again in the near future. However, he pointed out that the utilitarian purpose of ETH has dwindled in the past year from an increase in competition. I figured I would ask the brilliant 4chan community about the topic and if this fella from Tipestry was a troll or if there was some validity to his statement.

Thoughts?

Depends in you mean technologically or financially.

The technology will advance well through PoS and sharding over the next decade.

But nobody knows how the economy of PoS will work out, if it'll dump because of negligible mining costs or pump because of much higher demand.

Do a 2 year prediction at maximum

ETH has more active development than the rest of crypto combined, and it isn't even close.

I am not literate in blockchain tech details, but from a fundamental analysis perspective on emerging technologies, it makes sense to invest in what is being actively worked on.

Yes, new products come to market. However eth already works and it is apparently in a huge number of individuals interest that it become better.

Anybody who tells you eth is shit, run far away from them. Majority of everything else is tweaked corner-cut copy pasta of eth. Once they resolve their issues and get POS, sidechains running smoothly. It’s game over for 99% of these shitcoins you see. The only reason why these shit clones exist is because eth is actually working on being truly decentralized. That’s not an easy task to accomplish and that’s why it’s taking time. They will get it worked out eventually though. I genuinely feel sorry for people that don’t believe in eth and/or don’t hold any. Literally one of the only coins that can revolutionize crypto.

ETH could fail, which is common for big software projects.
besides that ETH2.0 will be the only true decentralized PoS BlockChain (pic rel). all others are prone to certain attacks or rely on centralized structures. on top of that a blockchain HAS TO be open source, would you trust something that is a huge black box?

There is no competition. Microsoft and Samsung use Ethereum in its current state. Once Serenity is released(who knows when) its game over forever. This is the main reason I am not invested in Holochain. Yes Holochain’s tech is crazy, and you could likely build an hApp that does everything Ethereum does, but better. None of that even matters. Ethereum has their foot in the door at many of the largest tech giants already, thats the hardest part about this entire process. Adoption. Ethereum has jumped the most difficult hurdle already, and this isnt even its final form!
