Brainlet here first time posting on /biz/. I'm a first year uni student who just came onto about 4k of inheritance and I want to be smart about what i do with it. Crypto feels like its not worth the hassle anymore and I am utterly clueless about the stock market. Also are bonds a meme?

Its the future of money. There are billions of dollars invested in the infrastructure and exchanges all betting on the future working out for crypto. If you've never bought any you could just sign up to Coinbase, do the free crypto tutorials, get a free $20 or so in your Coinbase wallet. I'd put $500 of that in Bitcoin tbqhf. I dont do stocks so cant help you there. You could always get a 2% APY checking/savings from like NBKC bank. I just think crypto has a bright future, dont put all your money in it or anything though if you do go that route. Maybe set some aside for any expenses during college.

you're young enough that 1. you can wait out a market cycle and see maximum gains from getting in early on VOO (VOO is a stock market index). and 2. you can take some risks (like crypto).
