Great story. A real page-turner.

OP here. I agree this entire discussion is extremely retarded, It all comes from him getting overly defensive when I asked why he bought such an expensive bed, After that he criticized my bike which I ride alot and have gotten many years of joy from. I want this topic as a statement to him on how absurd his views on money are.

I’m assuming you don’t know how to actually ride a sports bike aggressively and bought it to be cool over anything else. Your friend bought a bed that he will use for 1/3 of his life. When your friend crashes on it, he has sweet dreams. When you crash on your bike you will die.

You can sleep on the bike.

A nice mattress is a good purchase that should not cost around 4000 euros. A motorcycle is a bad purchase that should cost around 4000 euros. You win some, you lose some.

A lot of bikes have poor resale values
I know of several people trying to sell theirs and no one's buying
If you time it right, you can find one used and well-maintained for very cheap from some boomer that just got tired of it

I would not buy a bed used. What is the appeal of a 4k euro bed vs a 2k euro bed or even a 400 euro one?

>>13406989

This thread is retarded. 4000 euro seems to be a reasonable price for a motorcycle that you can use for transportation. Even more than that is a ridiculous price for a bed. If you can't sleep on a bed that cost less than $5000, you need to be in the hospital. It's his money though. If he needs a really nice bed to be happy, let him have it, and be grateful that you are not so high maintenance.

Yeah man honestly my 350 is plenty of power for me. It's agile enough to have fun and it is absolutely roaring by the time I'm at highway speed. Can top out at 100 but it's modest enough in power that I'm not gonna be doing anything particularly stupid or getting bucked off when I flick the throttle. I've really only ever ridden vintage hondas... had a CB750 before my 350 and I vastly prefer the small size, low weight, and agility of my 350. It's about 150 pounds lighter and feels worlds more maneuverable.

I drove an old boss's 750cc ducati one time. First off, it was uncomfortable as hell sitting hunched so far forward like an italian jockey on 1-inch thick foam seat. Would have murdered my lower back after 20 minutes of riding. Secondly, it's just face-melting levels of acceleration--- not even pleasant. If you opened up that throttle without having your body weight over the front wheel, it would wheelie in a hearbeat and would buck you off.

Also I have to say part of what makes a motorcycle exciting for me is feeling like you're running it at its limits... leaning it far over in the bends, getting near top speed or redline, really hearing it roar and sensing its limits. This is a lot easier with a more modest machine. Gotta say there's nothing quite as unsatisfying and also frustrating as riding a sportsbike at what feels like 40-50% capacity... hunching over like you're ready to ride a rocket that you can rarely get above 70mph.

I also ride in NYC a lot because I live there, and with most riding conditions you're never really getting above 40 mph or going further than .25 miles without hitting a light or traffic. In that sort of condition having a small modest bike with a neutral riding position is way more enjoyable and you don't look like a fool sitting in traffic with your ass in the air.

Yeah, I had a Ninja 500. Not real powerful but it was still a crotch rocket. The faster I went, the better it felt. Riding in the backwoods in the PNW, winding turns, knee almost touching the ground. FUCK YEAH. I was reckless and could have easily died on more than one occasion. Had a minor accident. Only separated by left shoulder and made some thin hamburger of parts of my skin. I still rode the same bike for about 6 months after but it didn't feel the same. Will never ride a crotch rocket again. Maybe a cruise bike in town or something but I value my life too much to let myself go on the open road with one.

Mate. Maybe In the US but in the UK it’s a money pit. Spend so much just keeping my bikes in a lock up so they don’t get rusted, and hoping it doesn’t get robbed. Needs mods and shit to make it look half decent (this is for a Harley and triumph). Love going out for a ride daily, but there’s heaps other costs.
