the "public"

Yes, bitcoin was in the news during the rise to 20k, however, who bought during that time? Virgin nerds and people already decently versed in technology/stocks.

Construction workers, truck drivers, grade school teachers, hair cut ladies: These people did not invest. Once we see 30k bitcoin (or so) mania will sweep the planet. Every normie will want a piece of the btc pie. Throwing thousands of dollars for just a fraction of bitcoin in the hopes of doubling/tripling/quadrupling it.

We haven't begun to see real mania.

There were probably homeless people that invested but anecdotal evidence doesn't mean much. I know a lot of normies and they all knew about it but didn't actually invest. But if bitcoin actually breaks it's ATH then you will really see the normies put in big chunks of their money.

>institutional investors
>investing in something not built for institutions

Institutional money had 10 years to come. Regulations aren't stopping their money from flowing in, Bitcoin itself, the structure and the workings of it are not fit for global enterprise use. When you want institutions to use something, you ask them what they require, what their problems are. You ask hundreds of financial institutions the same things. Then you get to work on making a system that has everything they want while also being able to comply to regulations and the way they must legally handle things.

The only digital asset that has ever seen institutional money is XRP, because from the beginning Ripple made it for banks and big money movers.

You see the problem there? I know many similar stories as well where normies wanted to get in but never actually did or only bought <$100 worth just to see what happens. That isn’t public mania.

In my opinion we have seen mania, and it was in 2017. Your argument are cope cause you are a late adopter. The next bull run will be more steady and prolonged in time, so it will not be a ''bubble'' type of chart, but more like the nasdaq after the 2000 dot.com bubble.
The adoption of crypto should came in the next decade, so you will not have a 2017 bull run anymore, but a steady grown to new all time higghs.
The ''public'' (hair cut, truck driver, carpenters..) it will came as the ultimate laggers in 10 years from now

Still not low enough for them. They buy at real lows and some of them only buy with they’re personal stash....institutional investors need regulations. No regulations, no institutional money. When the US figured out where they stand onthis shit and release official reports that everyone can point to with 100% clarity, then they come in.

I live in a rural village in Germany (work in a big city nearby).
Half its residents is already pension age.
My neighbour (well in her 80ies) asked me about BTC in November 2017, because she heard it on the radio and "it might be something nice as a christmas gift".

I did not know that the station she is listening to is even playing something aside from horrible old German folk music (Schlager).
