13306014 No.13306014 [Reply] [Original]

Polkadot (Web 3 foundation, Parity) is apparently creating an ethereum hard fork called dothereum (a fork like bitcoin cash split, everyone gets duplicated coins), they're going to bailout their locked multisig funds + other polkadot design changes (ewasm, on-chain governance, parachain scaling).
Scant details as of now
https://www.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/bc8mbc/polkadot_is_going_to_hardfork_eth/
https://www.reddit.com/r/dothereum/comments/bc5r3j/could_someone_please_explain_what_dothereum_is/

If true, it could lead to eth pump as people are going to want free dots. It's not going to be a shit fork, polkadot is a real contender.

>> No.13306025

what if I'm all in Chainlink
should I sell for eth and get cozy polkadot fork dots then buy back Chainlink with eth and keep the dots?

what real sources? it's a rumor based on some internal happenings.
The main site
https://dothereum.net/
has just links to twitter and reddit at the moment.
There's this tweet linked to from the reddit thread which suggests that the mod of r/dothereum is Afri.
https://twitter.com/econoar/status/1116480429102526464
The Afri fallout and Parity's attempt at bailout are well known. It all fits in.

This is a chance for 'buy the rumor, sell the news'. If there are no news, well, no big deal.

soc1c = Afri Schoedon

Afri rage quits on Feb 18
https://www.coindesk.com/ethereum-core-developer-quits-social-media-over-conflict-of-interest-attacks
The account that created r/dothereum soc1c was created just a day later.

9 days ago, Afri requests r/edg subreddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/redditrequest/comments/b8i3yp/requesting_defunct_redg_no_posts_no_moderators_3/
he gets it and immediately makes soc1c a moderator

Its just going to be a worthless fork, the only people that want it are those that had their eth locked because they fucked up.

It could have sharding before 'official' ethereum 2.0. Polkadot calls this parachains.
https://polkadot.network/#howitworks

If they execute it really well, I could see it winning over ethereum.

>> No.13306785

I imagine a dothereum fork (if sucessful) causing a pump and dump of eth. The end result of this would be eth valued at 65% of what it should be. Users of metamask etc. Will run into a lot of problems.

>"Web3 Foundation is excited to announce Chainlink’s contribution to Polkadot. Chainlink’s open source oracle system provides smart contracts in the Web 3.0 ecosystem with decentralized oracles that will reliably connect those contracts with key off-chain resources like data feeds, APIs and various payment methods. As part of the collaboration, Chainlink plans to create an implementation for the Polkadot project, making a large amount of off-chain data feeds, various APIs, and traditional payment services available to all contracts on the Polkadot network."
