ive been in crypto since the early days, been through many bearish times, but there was always hope for adoption for the average member of the public to discover it, for it to moon then get used.

However nove 2017-jan 2018 felt entirely different, like the whole market got exposed under the eyes of the whole worlds media, everyone I speak to now thinks its a scam/ponzi, and I cant disagree, 2017 killed crypto imho.I really cant see any more mass mooning unless this stuff actually gets adopted.

>> No.13282485

could not agree more. the only reason to buy now is bcz ta fags are jerking off to charts painted by chink whales

This is the crux of it isnt it.Literally now pure ta, fuck the fact its all useless shit, fuck the fact btc is slow and unused. Its all meme lines and muh “digital gold”.People dont realise first impressions are everything, and worlds first impression of crypto was everyone getting wrecked on shit and scams. There was always hope before, even in the darkest times. Now I simply dont feel it.

Felt the same desu. I watched that Ian Ballina in 2018 when things were crashing saying:
>5 Million for a blockchain guys?
The chat was dead silent even Shillina sensed the awkardness. At that point I knew crypto is dead. Everyone must have been thinking the same.

Pre 2017 was mainly neckbeards and very savvy computer users, the market had its bear periods but really it was only neckbeards and savvy computer users getting wrecked,

The binance era everything changed, the people i knew buying fucking ripple on binance for 3 dollars you would not believe, suddenly everyone i knew knew a load of people each who got wrecked. It was then i knew we had hit peak fidget spiinner/beanie baby/ buzz lightyear toy etc.The world woke up to it at the worst possible time.

Exactly. I bought in in 2014 because there was something genuine and exciting to look forward to and speculate on. Now I feel like I’m in some kind of post rapture environment where good people went to heaven and we sinners are left on earth for hell to takeover.

Its kind of like being a fan of the cool band noone knows about, then they release some huge hit, everyone talks about them, then its only down from there as all their flaws get exposed to the wide world and they soon become lame.Dont underestimate the feeling people had of being part of something joe public had no clue about or how to get involved in.Thats why 2011 to mid 2017 is uncomparable to now and why its unironically different,

Crypto is obviously a scam, the way they're pumping it is ridiculous and obvious. By mid-2018, the legitimacy was gone. Not that it had it before, but everyone knows now. The smart money got out, and regulators don't want to touch crypto.

Anyone who invests in it at this point is just gambling. It's over, crypto didn't make it. All that's left is a bunch of nerdy devs and greedy exchanges trying to keep their free money tree watered.

Blockchain and dlt will absolutly be used, but thinking btc and cryptocurrencies will have to moon or cant fail is like thinking pets.com cant fail because the internet will be used.ETF’s are a huge meme used to try to drive the price of btc up.You do reslise there are already btc etfs in europe right?the volume is so shit it isnt even worth talking about.Tokenizing could work, but atm its still a pipe dream, the powers that be simply are not ready to change old ways. You need to explain why “blockchain tech” needs a cryptocurrency market to succeed.

>>13283091
No, it's not whales that are pumping.

Here is a simple greentext so it's easy for all of you to understand, I'll even capitalize the important nouns, even if you are a zoomer you will understand this:
>WHALES do not buy stocks/bonds/CRYPTO/whatever at the standard SPOT price
>WHALES trade in DARK POOLS, not Binance
>RETAIL INVESTORS buy at SPOT price, i.e. the marks, what's left of the working and middle class
>The price of crypto is not rising because WHALES are buying it, it's rising because it's being PUMPED ARTIFICIALLY

I don't know how to make it any clearer.

Because how do you incentivize the participation of individuals in maintaining a decentralized network without the currency aspect. There are so many things that the currency can do as well: voting (governance), settlement between different assets, instant and verifiable transfers that dont need verification and clearing, smart contract automated payments, micro payment for IoT devices. The currency aspect is integral to maintaining decentralized trustless networks.

BTC will be adopted for its network's secure track record and as a hedge against inflation and equity market meltdowns. You can already observe that countries with currency problems naturally gravitate towards BTC adoption.

>it's being PUMPED ARTIFICIALLY
who pumps? whales do

and I'm not talking about the small fuckers trading OTC
I'm talking about the people that own 99% of the coins/supply
they can simply move the price anyway they want

Those aren't whales. Those are just devs and exchanges.

/biz/'s problem is that it imagines that Asia is overflowing with billionaires desperate for crypto, and they keep pumping it up. The reality is that it's just new Tether being fed into highly select outlets for market making, like Bitfinex, so that they can keep fooling hopeful but uneducated 20-somethings into parting with their primeval $10,000 bank account. They're also smart enough to know that they can keep you hooked by supplying you with false hope.

doesn't matter who it's in the end
they will keep pumping and dumping, not because they are interested in crypto, but because it's a money making scheme
and to make money they need to attract fresh blood from time to time (to dump on), which they simply do by pumping/adjusting the price if necessary
tether printing is just a byproduct of providing enough liquidy, not the main cause of the price action
it's not that hard to grasp
