Baggie shamelessly hogging all the coke edition

Before you buy anything, make a brokerage account and read investopedia articles and/or the books in the OP list. If you don't have a broker, you can't buy stocks and if you blindly buy things without understanding how the stock market works or doing any research on the individual stocks you're buying, you will lose money and it will be entirely your fault.

3 weeks before record date, still plenty of time for things to happen before then
Could also still happen after the offering is done (trial will already be funded before they buy the company)
Even if no BO or partnership short term, there are still incoming catalysts in Keytruda trial extension data and finalized phase 3 NASH trial design
Good results in Keytruda combo trial and NASH phase 3 trial will make the company that much more expensive for a buyer (and profitable for shareholders) a few years down the road
All they have to do in their phase 3 NASH trial is repeat the same results they already had in phase 2 (it's likely going to focus on preventing decompensation in compensated cirrhosis patients as measured by progression to varices)

You know He is on your side when just as your funds are cleared for use He Dips for you. Yes it's true He did Dip for me today right before the EX Date. So what did I do? I took full advantage of the Dip of course. 82 more of Him do I have now for a total of an even 100 shares. The cost was cheap compared to what it could've been before He did the Dip. Now nothing can stop it, $204 in Divvy profit is a coming. Drip that Payout will I do for an extra 6.4 free T shares a year till the year 2032.

GE is another mater; he is looking to fall by 50% if what they say is true, which means his price will be 5 per share soon. So I reduced my position while I could before the fall could take place so to limit my losses from this disaster. But I will turn this turkey to my advantage and buy more of him at 5 per share on the 15th. That will see me make least 50% gain in profit when he climbs out of this funk back to $10 per share again.

yeah you can't start an economic battle with the EU and China then let your market sink into a re-election year.
Actually I think the re-election is only part of it, it's about winning.
The question is when the gloves are off and all the Banks are pumping, who breaks first and hardest.

And I think the answer is the EU, China can implement all kinds of controls on their economy to at least keep food on the table and avoid uprisings but the EU doesn't have the strength at all to avoid economic issues.

So I don't think Trump really intends to point the markets downwards and stomp on the gas, but it is an interesting move to force the EU to heel.
I think they have to and they know it.
I don't think we'll actually go hot with this one

BTW I think the first round of the trade war was Trump seeing if he can make China cower by threatening the same sort of tariff escalation, but they called his bluff (sort of).
but with the global economy in the state it is in now, and especially the European markets already swapping to try and stay afloat, the EU won't be able to call Trump's bluff. Unless they come to some side agreement with China

(not just talking about this first round of threatened sanctions BTW, I'm talking about escalation into a weak market as the serious concern)

There's no economic battle going on as far as I see. Trumpy is trying to be big guy but noone gives a shit, it's inconvenient of course but nothing groundbreaking, we still buy Iranian resources, we do deal with China and EU being overgrown village is much more self sufficient with good China relationships. >When it is time for us to sell, or even to stop buying, the response could be quite strong; there is every reason to expect a strong response. So there are a couple of ways to look at it. It is about $1.2 trillion in sales; you take 60 months, you get about $20 billion a month. That is a very doable thing, it sounds like, in a market where the norm by the middle of next year is $80 billion a month. Another way to look at it, though, is that it’s not so much the sale, the duration; it’s also unloading our short volatility position.

>I think we are actually at a point of encouraging risk-taking, and that should give us pause. Investors really do understand now that we will be there to prevent serious losses. It is not that it is easy for them to make money but that they have every incentive to take more risk, and they are doing so. Meanwhile, we look like we are blowing a fixed-income duration bubble right across the credit spectrum that will result in big losses when rates come up down the road. You can almost say that that is our strategy.

I agree the 11B tariffs on EU aren't a big deal on their own
The issue is how the EU reacts
What do you think they will do? just stay silent and take the tariffs? I think they might.
EU choices are:
-accept the tariffs, maintain airbus subsidies. Trump gets a small win, more like a neutral value.
-eliminate airbus subsidies. big win for trump, looks very good to American workers. This would encourage Trump to take mroe action of the sort
-retaliate

I just think the EU's options aren't very good, and it could lead to an escalation on one side or the other
If they bitch out completely Trump administration might see it as an invitation to push them around more (which will earn him votes in a re-election setting, if he is hitting out at companies that compete with American companies).

You can't build planes without subsidies on this level really. I'd say EU stays passive maybe adds tariffs on 4-5B as a response. Don't forget we are indirectly putting tariffs on US goods through customs and other tax options. EU has complications with south countries being unable to build normal economies which is much bigger deal then Trump tweets. On top of that there's Brexit fiesta going on and EU has upper hand in it. I'd say if (and that's a big if) us actually does something economy breaking (which again US was unable to do even if we look at muh ebil Iran) Britain will be used as bargain chip between Franco Germanic alliance vs Anglosax sentiments so we give you nice Island with people of yours and you leave EU alone. That's just my Tuesday idea.

I think he is putting pressure on to see what happens, and at the same time to win affection of voters.

It will be interesting to see the EU response. But if the best they can do is a few billion in their own sanctions, then I think Trump comes out even or ahead.

I'm trying to think of big-picture, long terms outcomes.

This 11B tariff threat isn't just an 11B tariff threat. Depending on what kind of outcome Trump is looking for it might be diffused easily or it could blow up. Like you said, there is a possibility he just wants some leverage to push the Brexit proceedings one way or another.

But the fact that EU has so much on their plate means they can be pushed around. And if they let it happen, that might be what happens.

Tech, Financial, Defensive, Housing, and Retail- to give a strong diversification for different market environments.

The last thing I considered was debt / asset ratios to make sure those companies are financially sound for at least 3+ years.

If those companies fail to meet a certain set of stats or drop below what I would be comfortable with, I would cut them in a second, and replace them with better long view performers.

At the root, this portfolio is for retirement / long-term savings, that'll outperform anything <6% compound savings.

Also, don't try to time the market. Just hold long on short, ease up on the over priced.
If you're continuously down during a bull just go full liquid put it into a HYSA, then come back in a month with fresh eyes.

you know this market is creating so much wealth for individuals who are buying in, maybe I shouldn't be in a net short position. I mean I'm missing some serious wealth generation because of my short position. I mean just buying in on a red day like today seems like a no brainer. Probably the perfect buying opportunity right now. I'm going to take out a bunch of debt and get in before it's too late.

>DCA is timing the market
its literally the opposite of timing the market

and with my investments, price is secondary compared to dividend stability and growth. I should be able to retire early without selling a single share of stock

but continue to think that owning before a possible recession is bad when all studies show that if you continue to invest the same during a recession you come out better than people that attempt to time the market based on the fact that there's just a few days of massive gains throughout the year, and the rest is slow and steady. you're likely to miss those days if you attempt to time the market

share your portfolio with me and lets compare who will be BTFO and who will still have investments 20, 30, 50 years down the line...

I've investigated them. I believe they will come back up. My investment thesis is twofold, they were over sold due to satellite breaking and bad PR, and there were many insider buys last quarter. Caveats are last quarter earnings really were terrible and surprised me, and their executives are broke, as insider buys we're on the order of $100k.

You don't have infinite lifespan. Dca is timing the market unless you're working with an institution's money. Even then, it's conditional on the lifespan of instution and access to the markets.

If you want to gate keep money go be a communist dictator. In a free and mobile society with a free and mobile market different values have different affects on people. To think you feel better than others based off a single value (that of your chosen currency) makes you incredibly ignorant and short sighted.

Part of a free society means that higher achievement is always possible, and to denigrate one man's hard earners, is to deny the very act of financial freedom in a market place. Why? Because through meritocracy and (idealistically) hard work and intelligence, you can turn 40 into 100 into 10k, into 5 million. Never would I tell someone their relative scale of wealth was worthless if they earned it, if they turned it from something smaller to something larger.
It's that kind of glib attitude that is more indicative of someone that has not worked for what they have, and are more likely to loose it.

When did you short it? Look how well they handled the US correction. I'd keep the idea of a short- because Canada is gonna bubble the next time US bears. (In my opinion)

As for PDD, not to familiar with it, I know it's Chinese. And tends to be operating at a loss.
This is a long stock, for the high risk tolerance group.
Check out there debts / earnings.

They're bleeding money, but remember, that wacky Chinese system. They could make a party friend and sign a special contract and the debt might disappear overnight. Or they could anger the wrong person with connections, and suddenly they owe 20% of all profits to the state.
How much do you stand to loose if you got out of PDD right now?
