Because after ETH goes PoS, 0xBTC will be the largest mined asset on the platform. There are a lot of people who think PoS distribution is a scam due to it favoring people who already have a lot of ETH, but who also still like Ethereum as a whole. A mineable PoW token like 0xBitcoin is ideal for such a demographic. Hard to estimate how many such people are out there, but definitely enough to justify a market cap at least in the tens of millions.

PoW is just PoS with extra steps (buying gpus)

c'mon rajeesh you're better than this

The absolute state of this board. This is relevant for literally everyone in crypto. PoS not working is the biggest fud against ETH. If it ends up being a success it will have a huge impact on the development and/or the price of most cryptos (including other smart contract protocols and BTC).

This. Which is why I'm glad Vitalik took the time to get it right, rather than rushing it to meet the earlier timeline.

The end of the bear market is literally the perfect time for this.

anyone else feel like PoS won't cut it? It feels like PoW is the real breakthrough in securing the network...

sirs, please do not do the racisms, 4channel is famili frendly sight.

But don't act like people involved in 0xBTC were the first or are the only ones to say that distribution through PoS is heavily skewed. Of course the people with more resources have more possibilities to leverage their resources to gain even more resources and this holds true whether something is distributed through PoS or PoW. There is, however, a very fundamental difference between these two mechanisms. In PoW, the resources are invested externally, meaning that anyone can build mining rigs or ASICs or whatever and use them to contribute hashpower in order to obtain coins. They can then sell whatever they have mined to get more money to invest in more mining hardware.

In PoS, the resource and the equipment necessary to obtain that resource is one and the same. No continuous investment is necessary, you just hold what you have and it generates you more coins, guaranteed. And who decides how the initial supply is distributed? 70% of Ether was just poofed into existence and distributed by humans, not maths. If someone obtains enough Ether, then his position can never be dislodged, he will have cemented himself as the largest owner forever. There aren't any external factors coming into play. There are enough people who see this as a problem for 0xBitcoin to be worth at least a couple of bucks a piece in the future.

Neither are going to cut it unless they can make them scale.
