Hey,

I just wanted to start to learn the basics of the stock market and investing/trading

What are some good books to read for a novice ?

Get a Financial Management Textbook, Get a Portfolio Management Textbook. Learn to understand financial statements. Look for books about Technical analysis. Websites like investopedia, Morningstar and The Motley Fool are great. And also you could always start a portfolio of fake money for practice on websites like investopedia.
