When I get back, it'll be a circus working the printing counter solo and dealing with the usual horde of octagenarian church ladies and boomer assholes who cannot grasp the simple concept of WAIT YOUR GODDAMN TURN, or the fact that it's 3 PM and they were not the first customer in this store, they have to be put on a waiting list so the orders I already have can be made.

Oh, and my coworkers dump everything on me - big jobs, design jobs, everything. If I'm not in, jobs don't get done, the place isn't cleaned, parts and supplies don't get ordered, they just put it off until I get there.

And then I have to help in other departments and assist managers with opening and closing the store.

And I'm not even the head of the department, I get paid a whopping 9.27/hr for this shit. My attempts at getting a promotion have been shot down because I can't "jump ranks", I have to take Print Supervisor next before I can get to climb higher, and my Print Sup is going nowhere so I'm stuck in this shitty low-level job that increased my pay a whopping 2 cents last year.

Oh, and I gained a new ability from this job: panic attacks! The high volume, sales quotas (12 different metrics I have to meet every day), nonstop flow of new customers and inability to finish previous orders on time because of dealing with the horde and being the only person behind the counter during my shift because corporate loves thinning the ranks and the general disarray of stiupidity I have to suffer through each day makes me want to fucking die.

Depends. I just left a coding job where I maintained unreadable legacy code where I wanted to die every day because it was all so bugridden and overall goddamn awful. Everybody there had basically given up on life and the mood was crippling depression all around. Now I'm moving somewhere else where the pay is better, the code is cleaner and people seem happy to work there.

The only thing that kept me going was the salary but since I bought a lot of LTC in january and february I feel pretty safe switching jobs. Jobs that shave away your soul bit by bit are fundamentally not sustainable if you ask me.
